Watch "What You Need It For", the New Animated Visual by New Delhi Rock Band Ioish
/Post-Rock/Prog Rock titans Ioish continue the roll-out of their upcoming album "In Waves" with new collaborative single "What You Need It For", following up lead single "Radiance".
Ioish (pronounced eye-o-ish) was created by Vaibhav Bhutani, a prolific guitarist based in New Delhi. At its genesis, Ioish was a home studio project which later found some traction by enlisting Abhinav Chaudhary on bass and Anshul Lall on drums, both being known figures in the independent music scene. The trio indulged in creating and playing music in the ambient/post-rock genre. Ioish is the oldest all instrumental band in the country, completing a decade in 2022.
Their first EP ‘We Move The Sky’ (2016) was supported by a 5 city nationwide tour (Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore, Pune and Nashik).
On ‘Reconstructing Dreams’ (2018) they explored a fresh, reworked sound, delving into electronic elements and cinematic passages to create a wondrous experience. Since then the project has moved on with Shantanu Sudarshan on drums, Nikhil Rufus Raj on bass, Saksham Gupta on guitar, and Vaibhav as the composer..
The band's atmospheric new single "What You Need It For" features the virtuosic Meredith Moore on horns, and finds Ioish at the height of their powers, combining heavy, frenetic prog rock and metal with electrified post-rock textures and jazzy flourishes.
