We’d like to introduce you to Mel Bailey, a Filipina-Aussie sagi-dreamer, as well as a singer-songwriter, jeweller & photographer, who expresses herself through a multitude of artforms. By way of sound, she feels most at home via Neo-Soul, Hip Hop and Jazz. After releasing her debut EP in early 2018 ‘No Doubt, Just Questions.’ Mel ventured through the Americas for several months on a journey of self discovery and empowerment. Her experiences and exposure to different musical genres, cultures and natural landscapes, embraced and channelled her artistry, which she has embodied in her upcoming EP “March”. Mel’s sonics are uniquely hers, with lush honey-dipped jazz melodies over juxtapositioned instrumentals she writes with her 6-piece band.

Mel has just released her new single “Wait, Stop”, which is her ode to self-assurance in a man’s world. Written in a time of dark days, she speaks about the sun and the idea of lightness always being at her reach, yet choosing to turn away from it and resorting to toxicity to fuel a “fix” rather than listening to inner thoughts and affirmations. The gradual rise in the hook, conveys a sense of realisation and awakening in a time of hopelessness.
