NYC Artist/Producer Sōl Releases His New Single/Video "Badside"
/Fresh on the DCWS scene is Sōl, a Multi Hyphenate artist from NYC who transitioned from a guitarist into filmmaking. As such, Sōl sees the importance of a well rounded artistic vision in his work. With a hands on approach of every part of his brand from producing, writing and performing his songs, to directing, editing and color correcting his videos to even doing all his own graphic design, Sōl has a clear vision of what he wants and does not compromise on quality.
This talented artist/producer has recently released his self-produced song “Badside”, which he wrote as a love song for his hometown after the peak of coronavirus when the city was labeled "dead" & "abandoned". Sōl followed the single with the music video, that he directed and edited, with help from Joaquin Cavazos as co-director.
Speaking about the theme of the visual, Sōl says, “The video's theme was to show New York City as a kind of apocalyptic wasteland with only one inhabitant as the lonesome traveler. I wanted to use the imagery of one person to portray the loneliness I personally & we all as a city felt during the truly dark month of march, but just like in reality there is always a light at the end of the tunnel & in the case of the video it being another person.
The visual aesthetic of the film plays off of many films I've watched through my adolescence with clear stylistic inspiration from Wes Anderson films along with old french country side films”.
We’re blown away by Sōl’s creativity as an artist and vision as a director, and we think that you will be too, especially if you are a fan of Dominic Fike, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd.
