With 2016's "Assumptions", 2017's "Buddy Buddy", and 2018’s "Throw It Back" - Manu has consistently ended the year with something fresh. Now he gives you his first single/video release for 2019: "Above Water", which is our DOPEST Video of the Week.
The video for "Above Water" was filmed in the Franc Moisin suburb of Paris by French directors Aden Gauthier and Berko & Titan, with additional footage shot in the Queensland hinterland by Jaen Collective.
Written during a trip to North America earlier in the year, "Above Water" is the first single from Sydney’s Manu Crooks in over 9 months, and marks the start of a wave of new music incoming from the prolific African-Australian artist.
From racking up over 10 million streams on "Fuego" late last year, to repping Australia as the only AU artist on the bill for Miami’s epic Rolling Loud Festival in May, Manu Crooks has his sights set on the world and doesn’t plan on slowing down.
Tapping in to his innate ability to swerve genres, styles, and trends, while maintaining his signature themes and visuals, Manu has established himself as a powerful force in the Hip-Hop scene globally as he builds his reputation in Australia and abroad as a ground breaking MC with an unprecedented trajectory.
With nods from A$AP Ferg, Stormzy, and Big Boi, as well as Beats Radio's Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, to playing some of the biggest festivals across Australia, Manu is breaking down boundaries and stands at the front the next wave of music that will flood Australia and the world.
