YAN YEZ Releases His Debut Single "Tryer", and its Lyric Video

At 30-years old, Denver based musician Nicholas Yan Yez found himself at a crossroads. As if finally coming out of the closet to his closest friends and family wasn’t enough, he also didn’t have a band for the first time since he was 14-years old. So he did what any multi-instrumentalist, songwriting, producer who had never fronted a band before would do. He went solo.

“Tryer” is the debut single from the aforementioned solo project, YAN YEZ. Primarily an Indie-Pop number with flares of Folktronica, “Tryer” is about moving forward from hard times or a bad headspace and trying to do what you want/need/love. With influences from bands like Sylvan Esso, Big Red Machine, and Bleachers, YAN YEZ doesn’t fit neatly into a box. But neither does the guy who’s singing it. And that’s okay.

“Tryer” is self-produced, with lead vocals and acoustic drums recorded at The Spot Studios and engineered by Glenn Sawyer and Rich Veltrop. Everything else was self-recorded at Nicholas's home studio. The song features Nashville musician Sean Martin West on guitar.

The lyric video was shot and directed by Nicholas with Amy Tompkins in Colorado Springs, CO and performed live for strangers stuck in their cars at a stop light.
