Houston based rap artist Troy Lux is back on DCWS with the music video for “Bite Me”, the lead single off his brand new mixtape “Playboy.” Troy’s new mixtape is the follow up to his last project entitled “Southern Wonderland”, which was a certified banger and can be streamed HERE.
Speaking about the “Bite Me” song, Troy says, “I chose this as the lead single because it has such an unapologetic vibe. Seeing that I went in a completely different direction than my previous project, Southern Wonderland, I wanted to make a bold statement saying, “I’m going to do whatever I want whether you like it or not!” In relation to the rest of the tape’s content, this song is one of the more bizarre cuts that has almost the exact same meaning except in the context of love. It’s like meeting someone for the first time and saying either you can accept me for who I am or move on.
Regarding the new project, Troy states, “The mixtape itself is a very experimental body of work. I wanted to play with more mainstream sounds and pop music, but I also wanted to keep my rap edge. I began working on this music a little over a year ago, and seeing that I have faced some pretty crazy people when it came to love, I wanted to kind of sum it up and tell what my experience has been like. I want to capture the meaning of what it is to be a “Playboy” and the course of what may lead some people to that position. Each song sounds different than the last because that’s what love is like, very up and down. I also wanted to capture the journey of finding your own purpose and self love as well. And just being able to put happiness back into yourself rather that rely on someone else to do that for you!”
