Toronto Artist Ekelle Forgives But Doesn't Forget in New Visual For "Why"

Ekelle is starting 2021 on the right note with her latest visual for “Why”. This dynamic lyric video takes the viewer on a beautiful, but melancholy journey as Ekelle explores the gritty realities of love. “Why” is Ekelle’s first video of 2021 and the message is just as simple as one of the song lyrics ‘Move on but I won’t forget this’. “Why” is all about forgiving yourself for the pain a relationship may have caused you, but keeping the experience in mind as a reminder of what you don’t need or want to go back to.
“I really wanted to try something different with this video. I love music videos because you can create so much with them. For Why, I wanted people to see the ugly side of love, sometimes you get cheated on, sometimes someone breaks your heart, and sometimes you just need to cry it all out. No matter what went wrong in the relationship I want the audience to know that they deserve better. Don’t try and sever a bad situation, it’s hard but we have to move on to get to better things” - Ekelle
“Why” is the third single from Ekelle’s 2020 EP, “Hood Pop”. The EP was released on November 13, 2020 and boasts 5 eclectic tracks. Ekelle is a Toronto-based artist who sings and rhymes about what she knows best: her real life experience! Money, sex, drama and identity stir together to create a style that she calls Hood Pop - Popular music with a street edge. Ekelle was recently signed to Motive Music Canada in December 2020.
