Squares Share the Music Video for "Nostalgic", Off Their Debut Album "Mountains"

Squares is a group out of Washington, DC that infuses Indie Rock, Barrett,and Pop in a seamless blend. The brainchild of DC native and multi instrumentalist Chris Barrett, Squares was developed in an effort to highlight the many influences that he has encountered throughout his upbringing and musical career in many different genres.

After working on a project that was mostly in the realm of pop/R&B, Squares is a return to more of the rock side that Chris had been playing most of his adult life. "I couldn't deny the influence of rock in my blood and my playing anymore. I spent so many years exclusively playing in that genre so it is a much more comfortable zone for me. But the fun part has been adding some different elements into the mix." Squares is captivating listeners all around the globe with their catchy hooks and infectious rhythms and will surely have the world singing along to for years to come.

With their first release “S.O.S.”, Squares discovered a sound that was very true to the heart and was more of a test of the waters to see what the reaction would be to a new sound. "I was amazed at how receptive everyone was. The new style seemed to fit like a glove for me and all of my listeners." With songs like "Kids Of The Night" & "Eclipse", Squares was able to capture a sound that was both retro, but also had a fun, and interesting modern twist. They are songs that could just easily be heard at a club, or at Wine Night on a Thirsty Thursday.

With their first full length album "Mountains," ambitions are set a little higher. Chris hopes to influence the upcoming generation of artists in a major way. "My goal is to speak to the young person out there who doesn't have any idea what they want to do in the world, and hopefully inspire and influence them to be passionate about music and pursue it. Because I was that young person. And music has been an absolute lifesaver for me."
