Singer-Songwriter Rose Spearman Shares Her Brand New Music Video For “After The Renaissance Comes the Blues”

DCWS is excited to introduce you to Dutch American singer-songwriter Rose Spearman, who just released the highly stylized, black and white music video for her song “After The Renaissance Comes the Blues”, directed by Charlotte Verminck. The song itself was produced by Joost Wesseling and Frank van Kasteren, and will be featured on Rose’s upcoming album “King Of Air”, due out at the end of this year. The project deals with Rose’s Jewish, Afro-American roots and family history.

The “After The Renaissance Comes the Blues” song tells the story of an illicit love affair that crossed multiple racial and social boundaries in New York/Harlem, against the background of Jazz as a rising art form. How the personal, historical, and social intermingle and - as the “King Of Air” album reflects are passed down as learnings or the need to learn through generations.

Speaking about the release, Rose says,

“mostly humans aren't very brilliant at love, even though they want to talk about it ALL the time

And we learn to be 'bad' at it from our previous generations,

And then we pass that down…….”
