Rising Pop Singer-Songwriter/Actress MadLeo Shares Her New Single/Video "Reminisce"
/MadLeo follows up her dark-pop ballad “Reminisce,” with a must see music video. The visual reveals MadLeo battling her subconscious, struggling to awaken herself from the state of denial she’s in, but as the lyrics suggest, she “keeps falling.”
MadLeo is a singer-songwriter and actress, whose bumpy journey began back in 2019 when she released four bubblegum pop songs under her previous name, “Aprilann.” Since then, she’s been on a mission to find her artist voice, and name, and a year later, MadLeo emerges with her spellbinding single, “Reminisce.” The downtempo ballad is mature, confident, and vulnerable.
“At the time I wrote it, Reminisce was a song I really needed to get off my chest. I wanted the video to be a giant representation of the mental purgatory you go through after a breakup, that weird state of denial and anti-awareness. The video starts off like a typical pop video, very literal, then progresses more and more into darker atmospheres, all with a deeper sense of uncertainty than the previous.” - MadLeo
This spectacle of a music video was directed by Ivan Stojiljkovic and shot in Belgrade, Serbia over a year ago, but the release was halted due to Covid 19. The song was written by MadLeo and fellow UK artist Katie Sky, with London based producer Harry James, after locking themselves in Strongroom Music Studios for 16 hours.
“That lost feeling after a breakup is one you don't get help with; music is the only way to move through it. Making this was my way through it. I'm beyond happy to finally have it out; I really hope it resonates with people. Now I'm ready to move on to the more meaningful stories I have to tell.” - MadLeo
The certainty she wears and sense of effortlessness she carries makes her hard to ignore. It’s no surprise she cites female artists like Lana Del Rey, Miley Cyrus, M.I.A, and Lily Allen as some of her major influences.
