Partefacts are the spray of confetti on your rug, the balloons lingering half-way up your wall. They are also a band featuring Canadian multi-instrumentalist Christa Belle and Australian producers Lani Bagley and Craig Schuftan of Ducks!. Born in Berlin after a big night out morphed into a day of instrument swapping and studio experimentation, Partefacts’ music is a psychedelic collage of noisy synths, cosmic disco and interlocking vocals, arranged and rearranged until it satisfies the trio’s lust for pop.

The band recently released their debut single, "Time Travel”, off their forthcoming EP “Lifestyle Blob”. Noisy bass, disco drums, post-punk shouts and layers of fizzing synths provide the setting for the tale of a three-eyed non committal space boyfriend who hops around the timeline the way people used to fly easyJet. In the tradition of Delta 5 and DFA, Partefacts’ “Time Travel” attacks this blasé boredom with spontaneous creativity, pop-art collage, and a wild pile-up of sound.

Director Reuben Sutherland has taken Partefacts’ sound world and gamified it for the “Time Travel” music video, plunging the band into a three player multi-level arcade adventure intercut with re-runs of old sci-fi TV shows. Fittingly, for a song about temporal confusion, it’s hard to tell if you’ve seen any of this before. Did Lani really appear in a TV show about dinosaurs on prehistoric earth? Was there a game where Christa battled 17th-century samurai warriors with a bass guitar? What about the one where Craig fell through a time portal with a broom? Do these fragments come from the past, or the future? Drop a coin in the slot, and find out.
