Los Angeles Based Pop/RnB Artist Josh Olsen Releases His Latest Video "Bad Things"
/Los Angeles Pop/RnB singer-songwriter Josh Olsen releases his latest video, “Bad Things”. Backed by a slick guitar, gentle piano, and Josh’s silky vocals, the powerful track calls on a complex gathering of emotions captured in thoughtfully written lyrics.
Josh reveals a passionate side of himself in “Bad Things” as he questions the urge to stay in a spoiled relationship. “A person can be completely wrong for you, but yet we almost start to crave the negativity in our lives because of how they make us feel sometimes,” he says. When we fall for someone, we often accept negativity in the relationship in light of our positive feelings, even to the point where we crave that negative energy. Josh cleverly uses metaphors to represent the tug-of-war between these feelings, perhaps best expressed in the lyric: “You’re my favorite song that's playing too long, and now I just want it to quit.” Eloquent production by Grammy-nominated Bart Schoudel (Camila Cabello, Justin Bieber, Zara Larsson) and Josh’s own soulful vocal talent deliver the heavy messaging of “Bad Things” as a very relaxed listening experience.
Though somewhat new to the LA music scene, Josh has been singing and songwriting his entire life. His talents were fostered by his musically-gifted family, who often spent time writing songs together and performing at their church. Keeping family in mind, Josh and his twin brother later took their high school band to great heights, moving to Austin and even auditioning for The X-Factor. Wanting to explore music as independent artists, the two later split, and Josh decided to make the brave leap to LA. He hit the ground running, recording his own music as well as co-writing songs for Fuller House star Juan Pablo Di Pace. Today, he is his own artist, constantly coming up with new music in all places from the shower to his dreams and eager to share it with the world.
“Bad Things” comes as Josh’s first release of 2019, following 2018 singles “Next to You” and “Breathing In”. The track comes in anticipation of Josh’s upcoming debut EP, a collaboration with producer Bart Schoudel.
