London Singer-Songwriter HEAVN Releases Her Dorian Gray Inspired Video "High"

Inspired by ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray’, London based singer-songwriter HEAVN’s new video “High” features artwork from London based painter and graphic designer Brice Gelot (cxntraband), and pictures the tormented relationship between Heavn and her partner (starring model/actor David Vaicekavicius - Dolce&Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Adidas). Similarly to how Dorian Gray’s portrait becomes ruined by his sins in life, the canvas portraying Heavn becomes a mirror reflecting her partner’s emotions - by the end of the video, David turns the portrait into a dark piece of art that embraces his feelings of hatred. The concept of the track and the video revolves around the importance of loving yourself first before you give love to someone else: “I can’t teach you how to love if you don’t love yourself”.

The “High” track (produced by James Lewis) also features samples from Marilyn Monroe’s speeches. In an interview with Sam Liddicott, Heavn explains how the whole idea came together after watching ‘My Week with Marilyn’, a movie following the relationship between Marilyn and her assistant, Colin. It shows Marilyn’s complex personality; she is unable to love herself and, as a result, cannot give love to Colin or anyone around her. The video, filmed by multidisciplinary artist Cat Couture (Amoroso Films), also showcases clothing from up and coming luxury British brand House of Sadachi.
