Kemmyé - Forever
/Born in LA but raised in Houston, Texas, this fresh-off-the-block pop singer is a certified star in the making. Jessica Robinson, stage name Kemmyé, has been performing and writing songs since the age of 10. With influences like Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, and Aaliyah, this pop artist wows audiences with her sweet vocals and individuality.
In the spring of this year Kemmyé released her demo album featuring her original songs “I Need the Old You,” and “Forever.” She’s been featured as a guest on Houston based radio shows like 953 JAMZ, creating videos for her music, and working on new songs for a future album. Ambitious and independent, Kemmyé works hard to get what she wants in the way she visualizes it. She aims to offer music that young people can relate to, and her long term goal is to leave a great legacy for artists to come.
The video for “Forever” is a classic stay-at-home romance. Kemmyé is longing for some alone time with her love, but he’d rather hand with the boys. When she confronts him, she finds out where his priorities lie, and it’s not with her. At the end of the video, the boys are kicked out, and Kemmyé’s mantra “I want you forever” suddenly becomes less about this boy and more about standards for her ideal man. Shot in a simple location but beautifully embellished with colorful contrasted lighting, the video embodies the perfect mix between a personal dilemma and a relatable story for all ages.
