Back on DCWS is LA based musician and producer Caleb Hurst who has been releasing a new song and music video each month. His latest work, "Create" is inspired by the book The War of Art by Steven Pressfield, which unpacks the struggle of being an artist and looks deeper into what prevents people from creating. It's also a love letter to nature and spirituality and how the two interact with creativity. Midway through the song a distorted voice speaks these words:

Harmony with the earth leads to identity

And creativity is the offspring of nature

To build something pure with the resources one has

Is to give back to the universe and rediscover life

Simply being more mindful

Of one's relationship with all living things

Will surely improve one's perception

And therefore satisfaction of their own life

The accompanying video is simple yet engaging. Hurst rides a bike to the beach wearing a dress and flower crown. He then disrobes and walks into the ocean, becoming more and more colorful as the song reaches its climax. Originally written on an acoustic guitar in 2015, Hurst revisited "Create" years later and added his experimental production, transforming it into a unique electronic track with a pulsing beat that only intensifies throughout.

In less than a month Hurst and frequent collaborator Logan Beckham will be releasing a 9 minute ambient track titled "REM" alongside a video edited by Devin Fortenberry.
