Brisbane-based singer-songwriter Eves Karydas has released a live acoustic video for her new single “Complicated”. Deeply personal and somehow universally accessible, “Complicated” is the kind of song that gets stuck in your head and tugs at your heart. The new track blends effortless pop production with Karydas' clever, personal and sometimes tongue-in-cheek observations showcasing her talents as a skilful songwriter.
Written as part of an extended writing trip around the world in 2019, the song was penned during a writing session that was never meant to happen. Eves worked alongside co-writers Calle Lehmann and Max Thulin, and producer Magnus Lidehäll (Katy Perry, Galantis) in Stockholm, Sweden. Surrounded by an exciting creative ensemble and swept up in the energy around her, Karydas remembers the time as being an all hands on deck approach to capturing something exciting and special that they could collectively feel was within their grasp.
In 2018, she shared her debut album, summerskin, which featured a string of impressive singles including Gold record ‘Further Than The Planes Fly’, as well as ‘Couch’, ‘Damn Loyal’ and the ethereal ‘Wildest Ones’. Having collected 40 million streams and support from international tastemakers, Eves played a string of sold out tour dates across the country, scored support slots with Dua Lipa and George Ezra, and played a series of festivals including Byron Bay’s Splendour in the Grass.
