Afro-Italo Rap Artist Alcatrz Drops Dope New Self-Directed Video "Sexy"

The Italian artist Alcatrz has encapsulated the spirit and sound of his European heritage to create his debut single ‘Sexy’, released via his own independent label Digital Pop Records.

‘Sexy’ is a fusion of synth-pop and 808 driven garage beats, influenced by American hip-hop group N.E.R.D and the unrivalled queen of rap Missy Elliot. The artistic project has been a year in the making, and Alcatrz’s fresh new sound and effortless rap flow are guaranteed to make waves on the music scene.

The visual accompaniment for ‘Sexy’ is a confident director’s debut, with the hip-hop artist retaining full creative control over the filming process. The choppy images and erratic editing style ensure Alcatrz always dominates the frame as he oozes confidence and youthful exuberance.

The single is the first taste from the artist’s upcoming EP entitled ‘Random Thoughts of an Afro-Italo’. The five track debut covers an expansive range of topics, veering from young love to politically charged anthems. Whilst keeping the project fairly close to his chest, he enlisted the help of Gaz Wilde, former member of the 80s UK band Wrathchild to lend a hand to the mixing process. His creative agency and innovation has also attracted the attention of Orchard/Sony, leading to the rapper signing a distribution deal in August 2017.

With the imminent release of his EP and a confident new track already tied to his name, Alcatrz’s ability to combine heavy beats alongside a star class rap flow is already starting to turn heads.
