SWATS Drops His New Single "Memories", Featuring Gavin Maestro
/Charlotte based pop/electronic artist SWATS returns to DCWS with his brand new single “Memories”, featuring his cousin Gavin Maestro. “Memories” marks the first time that SWATS and Gavin have worked on a song together. This song, along with "Opaque" which we featured last year, will be featured on SWATS’ upcoming as-of-yet-named solo album.
Speaking about this new release, SWATS says, “At the surface, Memories is a breakup song with a cool and confident vibe. It's not sad at all. It paints a picture of moments in a relationship where people try to break free, but keep finding themselves back where they started time and again. Maybe this time, they'll be able to pull out of the toxic relationship, leaving the other with only their memories.”
“One of my main strengths as an emcee is my use of hidden meanings and double entendres. The underlying story is that it's a prequel to my song, Irregular which was about an powerful AI having become so close to human that society decided it would be best to shut it down. This particular song is about this AI breaking away from its standard routines, breaking out of it's initial programming and becoming true to itself. The lyric video was made in partnership with Altitxde, a female 3D artist from Australia, who did the animations used in the chorus while I handled the rest. Altitude also followed my design queues for the cover art.”
