RIZ LA VIE Releases His New Single "She Said"
/Lebanese-American rapper/singer RIZ LA VIE has released his latest single “She Said” and announced a new release date for his upcoming EP, “Feed.”, June 4 via AWAL.
Riz weaves different storylines through “She Said,” but ultimately it is a song about the spoken word—what it means to say something, the effect those words may have on yourself and others, and their ability to deepen your appreciation for those around you. "This has been shown to me time and time again by the female influences in my life,” says Riz.
For Riz, “She Said” is more of a hip-hop ballad that brings together two very different influences that sat side-by-side in his parents’ record collections: the Arabic music of his Lebanese heritage and albums by Elton John and Billy Joel. The track went through many phases over the past months. Riz initially wrote in his bedroom, began recording it in Los Angeles, altered it at Voyager Studios in Brownsville, Brooklyn, and finished it at Dimension 70 studio in the Lower East Side of Manhattan.
“Feed.” comes from a place of following intuition by way of personal growth and creating something uniquely Riz’s own. Discussing his thematic intentions behind Feed., Riz states, "I want to come to fruition as a human being, and I am working to unlock that self. I made it a mission to make projects that clear my chakras, the pools of energy that flow throughout our bodies. It's for the throat chakra—the connection between head and heart. I really believe in divine timing, and this project has been the epitome of that.”
“Feed.” is about the energy it takes to move forward—to turn the gritty, exciting, and even sad moments into our fuel. It’s about engaging the mind, body, and spirit, about freeing, fulfilling, and healing while finding one's place in the world. Through his thoughtful lyricism and unique, genre-blending sonic approach, Riz is bringing something new to the table.
