Los Angeles-Based Electro-Pop Duo Magdalena Bay Drop Their New Song "Good Intentions"

Rising electro-pop outfit Magdalena Bay has unveiled their new single “Good Intentions,” a glitchy dance song about the end of a relationship, via Luminelle Recordings. “Good Intentions” shuffles between finger-snaps and a driving beat as vocalist Mica Tenenbaum’s breathy verses give way to a hypnotic hook.
“We’ve always wanted to make a crying at the club-type of song, and this is definitely it,” shares the duo of Mica Tenenbaum (singer/songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer/songwriter). “’Good Intentions’ looks back on a relationship and sways between acceptance and flashes of emotion. We wanted the music to reflect this, so there’s a definite tension between quiet sadness and lush melodrama.”
The new track follows Magdalena Bay’s recent indie-pop single “Venice.” Punctuated by a laidback beat, handclaps, a boisterous bass groove, and glimmering, sun-kissed vocals, “Venice” encourages listeners to live in the now as the end of the world closes in.
The independent Los Angeles-based, Miami-raised duo infuse a throwback spirit into 21st century cinematic pop as they gleefully keep their D.I.Y. edges intact. Under the influence of Carly Rae Jepsen, Charli XCX, and Art Angels from Grimes, Magdalena Bay, who’ve been making music together since high school, picked up a thread from their early prog band roots a la the “the eighties key changes” and developed a handcrafted sound and vision.
