Taking cues from Fugees, late 80s hip hop, The Avalanches and 90’s neo-soul, the London duo, Girlhood, record and produce their music on the aforementioned narrowboat, bringing a distinctly British setting to their worldly and diverse range of influences.

The duo has just dropped their resounding new single, 'It Might Take a Woman'. It’s the latest to be taken from the self-titled debut LP which is out via Team Talk Records on October 23rd.

The new track follows in the wake of recent tracks from the album such as 'Sister', 'Queendom', and 'The Love I Need' that have secured tips at BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, The Line of Best Fit, Dork, Cool Hunting and more.

'It Might Take a Woman' finds the pair switching pace from the slow-burning groove of 'Queendom', this time drawing on arresting rhythms, fusing these with tar-thick grooves to generate something that is in equal bouts deeply felt and uptempo.

Speaking about the new single, lyricist and singer of the group, Tessa Cavanna, says: "The older I get the more I realise that we should be embracing and giving agency to our femaleness. I guess that was what was going through my mind when we were creating this track. I'm so pleased this one made the album as well because it’s such a joy to sing live!"
