24 year old singer-songwriter Olivia Burke just released her alternative pop single ‘Graves’. Hailing from the midlands of Ireland, Olivia’s sound is inspired greatly by the world around us, and all parts of the human experience which bring us closer together. Olivia’s lyrical abilities surpass her experience and age as she approaches the music industry with a fresh sound and attitude.
Olivia is no stranger to performing, and she studied songwriting at the prestigious BIMM Dublin in order to hone her craft and learn more about the industry. She is now ready to take on the world through her music and hopes to make an impact on those who hear her. Olivia’s music is unique and takes inspiration from everything from country to hip hop, not afraid to stray away from new and exciting production ideas and sounds. Big inspirations for this track in particular include Amy Winehouse, Lana del Rey and Billie Eilish.
‘Graves’ is a Romeo and Juliet style ballad, playing on ambiguity through lyrical themes of love, loss and destruction. The song plays on ideas of how what we think can be best for us can be the most devastating and how we tend to lose ourselves to vices which help us escape reality. The song can be viewed through many lenses, and interpreted best by the listener and their personal experiences in life. The production takes on a fresh, dark and hard hitting alternative pop route, both familiar and new to the listener. Irish synth pop artist Viscose provides his skills as producer, and Simon Gibson from Abbey Road Studios mastered the track beautifully.
