International Duo Curious Grace is Going “For A Roll”

The collaboration between Germany-based singer/songwriter Titi Diop and Cirque du Soleil percussionist Elvis Aljus known as Curious Grace returns to its indie spirit with the release of the partnership's second single, “On A Roll.”
“On A Roll” is a lush, electro/hip hop love affair; a track that perfectly pairs Diop's ethereal vocals with Aljus' hypnotic beats. In the track, Diop breathes out lines like “tasted good, kissing you and nobody was looking/Driving fast, bypassed, we passed our turn we got something….” Combined with sensuous synth-driven support by Aljus, the effect is one of forbidden excitement; speeding down moonlit roads in the throes of new passion. “The second we heard the track on playback, we knew it was the start of something special, and it’s just awesome that we were able to capture that feeling in a song,” recalls Aljus.
While “For A Roll” is the group’s second single (the first, “Everybody Needs Love,” dropped worldwide in January), “For A Roll” was actually recorded on the east coast of Australia in 2012, on the day Diop and Aljus first met. Like the lovers in the song itself, “For A Roll” has been through a winding road. First produced in 2016 by Jan Skubiszewski and mixed by ARIA-nominee Tony Espie (The Avalanches, Urthboy), Curious Grace decided to take the track apart and rework it after leaving their label in 2017. The pair plan to release the revamped track worldwide via social media on August 16.
When not collaborating as Curious Grace, both Elvis Aljus and Titi Diop find ways to express themselves creatively. Based in Berlin, Diop collaborates with numerous artists, including multi-platinum artist Dmitri Ehlrich, who was impressed by her love of improvisation. Meanwhile, Aljus tours the globe as a percussionist in the Cirque du Soleil show “Totem,” which ends its month long run in Alicante, Spain on Sunday, then travels to Zurich, Switzerland in September. In the interim, he plans to collaborate with Diop on the release of “For A Roll,” as well as on their third single, which will be released at a later date.
With their combined artistry and musical presence, Curious Grace is a duo that truly deserves to be on your audience's release radar.
