Finesse is a female rapper originally from the DC area who now calls the Wilmington area of North Carolina home. She’s been rapping since the late 80s back when she first became aware of hip hop culture, and over the years, most of her lyrics were very dark and gritty detailing the street life she encountered growing up in DC, but recently she has decided to make a change.

Talking about her transformation, Finesse says “I had to step back and realize that when I write I can tell a story, I can put a message behind the music and I can also be different with what I write about. Music is about expression and I always wanted my listeners to feel that they are going on a journey with me into life and what trials we go through. I do use my faith as a tool and it has been very important I speak to those in a way that they understand where I am coming from. My current album "23709" to me is my journey finding my way in life and my voice.”

Speaking of the album “23709”, one of its featured tracks is the self produced “Black Rose”, which addresses, as Finesse puts it, “what goes on when you get caught up in the lifestyle but you find a way to change the outcome”.

From start to finish, “Black Rose” is fire, and is a great introduction to what you can expect from Finesse on the “23709” album. If you are a fan of Nas, Lecrae and Method Man, then you know what to expect from Finesse artistically, which is catchy bars, great taste in production, and overall swag and confidence on the mic.
