Derick Knox Releases His New Funk Inspired Track "Apollo"

Back on DCWS for the second time is Philly based rap artist Derick Knox with his new track “Apollo”. “Apollo” follows “Twilight”, which we featured back in December, and is an uptempo, funky track that is catchy, and head nod inducing. In Derick’s own words about his latest release, he says,

“Our lives will never be perfect, and that’s alright. My new song 'Apollo' is about being down for the journey. About knowing that things are going to go badly sometimes, but that those moments make us stronger and wiser. Even during our lows, the Sun will continue to rise and shed light on a new day. I’ve never rapped over something so groovy before and that was all the reason to hop on the funk inspired beat produced by Tantu. I just want to continue to create what has not been created and do my part as an artist by giving back to the world.

I gotta admit as much fun as I had creating this track I almost psyched myself out of dropping it a few times, realizing how different it was from everything else I had made and what fans may be expecting. But a simple talk with my closest friend and live sound engineer, Brandon reassured me that the song was still me. I'm not afraid to admit that for a second I was worried about public reception, but I knew in my soul that it was authentic and that it would shine through from that alone- and that even if it didn't I would be fulfilled because I did it for the love of the art.

I'm glad to hear that people are enjoying after all and i'm excited to continue to expand my capabilities as a musician”.
