Bianca Hosking released her newest single last week, “Gwen Stacy,” the perfect indie-pop song for the back to school crowd. Bianca uses the allusion of marvel comic book character Gwen Stacy to build a familiar image in the listener's mind. In the comics, Gwen is Spiderman’s delicate, innocent, and passionate sweetheart. The dreamy, expressive song feels built to soundtrack moments of budding romance, effectively capturing the feelings of yearning over melodic piano, emotional strings, and an uplifting beat.
When discussing her new single, Bianca called it “an emotional and ethereal pop track about the feelings that accompany a sweet and carefree relationship.” Using her own memories and romantic experiences, Bianca imagined how Gwen would have felt when she met Peter Parker in Spiderman and put it into words.
Bianca has always wanted to be a storyteller, gravitating towards artists like Taylor Swift, whom she points to as the reason for picking up a guitar as a young girl. Since then, writing songs has always been what she wanted to do, and what she believes she’s meant to do.
