Hailing from Los Angeles, California, High Sunday bring sizzling energy and a massive Hip-Hop presence to their debut single, 'Wonderland'. The group is an eclectic mix of talents that include Eddie Core, Ike Deezl, Nick Fazekas, Evann Lewis, Nicole Row, Drin Elliot and Ryan Evangelista; who consistently produce a fresh take on the genre by combining elements from Jazz, Rock, Reggae and Funk. They count their influences among Hip-Hop heavyweights like Eminem and Outkast, while incorporating an infusion of rock akin to the likes of Hendrix and The Doors. It's a sound that rejects typical genre convictions in the pursuit of creating an unforgettable experience.
High Sunday's new track 'Wonderland' packs a hypnotic punch with dizzying horns and chromatic synths. Their progressive Hip-Hop is ample with booming basslines and menacing vocal layers, as they spit fresh lines over an unstoppable beat. It inspires emotion, from the anthemic atmosphere to the attention grabbing mix of instrumental anomalies, it's one of those tracks you want to have on repeat.

DOPECAUSEWESAID will be on-site for this year's Hopscotch Music Festival in downtown Raleigh. So many amazing artists will be performing at Hopscotch over the next few days, including Vince Staples, Erykah Badu, Beach House, Young Thug, Gary Clarke Jr., Wolf Parade, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, Kelela, The Coathangers, Kooley High and many more.
Among these mentioned artists, there are four acts that you've got to see perform live this weekend, starting tomorrow night. We'll clue you in on the essentials for Beach Slang, Adia Victoria, Diet Cig, and North Carolina's own Sylvan Esso.
Beach Slang - Friday @10:30pm - CAM
The Philadelphia based band are releasing their new album A Loud Bash of Teenage Feelings on September 23rd. Beach Slang's music evokes the spirit of punk and juxtaposes it into something that's as brutally honest as it is infectiously catchy. Last year, the band released their debut album The Things We Do To Find People Like Us. Watch the music video for their single "Punks In A Disco Bar."
Adia Victoria - Friday @11:00pm - NASH HILL
The Nashville based artist recently released her debut album Beyond The Bloodhounds. She has already received praise from KPCC, Pitchfork, NPR, Fader, Rolling Stone and had her network late night TV debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Watch her NPR Tiny Desk Session.
Diet Cig - Friday @12:00AM - DEEP SOUTH
Diet Cig are duo Alex Luciano (guitar) and Noah Bowman (drums). After garnering attention from Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, Stereogum, and Spin, Diet Cig returned with the seven-inch, "Sleep Talk / Dinner Date." Alex and Noah have made a big statement out of five highly infectious pop songs released last year via their EP Over Easy. Listen to the EP's epic singalong "Harvard." Watch Diet Cig perform "Sleep Talk" and "Pool Boyz".
Sylvan Esso - Saturday @8:45pm - CITY PLAZA
Last week, North Carolina's Sylvan Esso shared their song "Radio" - it is their first new song since their debut in 2014. 'Radio' has already had over 439,000 streams on Spotify. The band will release their highly-anticipated sophomore album in 2017.
King Pig’s Self-Titled EP: Why You Need To Keep This Band on Your Radar
King Pig is an Australian band made up of Cairns natives, Dal and Tim, who released a killer self-titled debut EP...
King Pig is an Australian band made up of Cairns natives, Dal and Tim, who released a killer self-titled debut EP in November of 2014. The boys started out playing in a reggae band, eventually relocating to Melbourne where they redefined their sound and started up a brand new project. Taking the band’s name from the end level boss in the popular game Angry Birds, King Pig is showing the world why the Melbourne music scene is a force to be reckoned with.
Having both worked on the Cairns franchise of balcony TV, these guys are no strangers to the music world. Tim busked his way across the east of Australia, playing in almost every small town and allowing the landscape to influence his music, while Dal works at the Victorian Arts Centre as a successful audio engineer.
In the words of lead singer Tim, the King Pig EP is a collection of six songs ranging in style from straight old time folk to dark pop and blues. The ending of Tim’s long-term relationship, family, and the uncertainty of change were the major driving factors behind the creation. With influences like Radiohead, Earl Scruggs, and Sun House, you can bet this band is only putting out top quality work.
Between the peaceful vocals and exceptional musical composition of each track, the overall feel of the EP is a very collected and easy listening one. The band’s strongest track on the EP is titled Right Sun, and immediately draws the listener in with an amiable and uplifting vibe. Each of the six songs is unique and gives off an individual feel, proving the overall project to be diverse and refreshing.
For Dal and Tim, standing still is not an option, and you can expect more great work from King Pig in the near future. They are currently in the process of creating a full-length album, and will hopefully be releasing a single very soon. If their upcoming album is anything like their first project, you should definitely be keeping your eye out for the release.
Below, you will find King Pig’s social media accounts and links to listen to their self-titled EP, as well as keep up with future projects.

Merlot Embargo Sets It Off With Their Debut Album "Don't Look Back"
Merlot Embargo will at once bring you both whimsy and angst with "Don't Look Back", their debut release...
Merlot Embargo will at once bring you both whimsy and angst with "Don't Look Back", their debut release. A collection of indie-rock anthems, swampy stomp grooves and glowing string harmonies, it explores both the serious and the silly, from a child's imagination to being comfortable with one's own eccentricities.
"Don't Look Back" was born of a years-long songwriting project undertaken in 2014. After walking away from an automobile accident that should have been fatal, songwriter/producer (and husband/wife) Scarlet and Geoff felt compelled to create. "Don't Look Back" has clear Americana pop sensibilities, brought to life with both traditional pop/rock instrumentation and provocative colors including kalimba, banjo, and toy piano. You'll find yourself bobbing your head as a rhythm section with a deep pocket supports a sultry and powerful voice singing from the depths of her soul.
Since 2009, the members of Merlot Embargo have released music under various other projects, including the bands The Jingle Boys, Johnny Hi-Fi and High Watermark. In forming Merlot Embargo and creating "Don't Look Back", the band has refined their tastes and song-craft into a unified message which speaks with a clear, if dynamic, voice.
Merlot Embargo performs locally in the greater Los Angeles area and throughout Southern California. If you get a chance to see them live, do it; you won't look back.

Our Exclusive Interview With Pop/EDM Artist and Producer Lerumo
Lerumo is a DOPE Houston based Pop/EDM singer, songwriter, and producer who started writing music...
Lerumo is a DOPE Houston based Pop/EDM singer, songwriter, and producer who started writing music in 2011. We connected with Lerumo to find out what his goals are in the music game, whether he considers himself an artist or producer first, which artists/producers have been influential to his work and much more.
How did you get your start in music?
I always liked it but I used to mess around singing in class when I was 13 and my friends suggested that I should try to make something out of it. They saw how big my hunger was and it stuck. Here I am.
Would you consider yourself an artist first or producer first?
I am an artist first, and producer third. I write more than produce so that would come second. I mainly target writing mainstream pop and RnB records. It'd be a dream to be behind tons of stuff on the charts even if I'm not the star singing on the record. That's something I'm setting out to achieve.
If you had to describe your music in three words, what words would you choose?
I would choose fun, new, and free. I like to just create freely and not get too deep with it. It's about the fun to me. It's all about the love.
Tell us about the visual of your track "Autumn". Who directed it and who produced the instrumental?
Autumn was directed by an upcoming celebrity videographer by the name Matt Arnold. He owns "M9Visuals" and does amazing work. I knew him through associates and had to get him on board. My buddy from Florida by the name "J-Rum" produced the instrumental. He's very good at making EDM production and when I heard the beat, I knew it was it.
Who are some of the artists/producers who have influenced your work?
Some of the artists and producers that influenced this record specifically were Taio Cruz, Cobra Starship, Outasight, Zedd, Calvin Harris and Krewella but many more influence my current material.
What are the goals for your career in the music game?
My goals are to build my brand to enormous height, own different companies, and get my sound out to as many people possible. I want to be a part of change.
Tell us about the music scene in Portland; are locals supportive of the music coming out of the city?
The music scene is very diverse in Portland. It's huge for rock music. Locals are pretty supporting for what I've seen. I wasn't there long though. I just moved to Houston and things are popping. I love it here and can't wait to see what I achieve. I'm in a great place.
NAO Brings A Captivating Musical Experience With Her Debut Album "For All We Know"
Have you ever listened to music that embodies an array of musical aesthetics that leave you in a peculiar enchantment?...
Have you ever listened to music that embodies an array of musical aesthetics that leave you in a peculiar enchantment? UK artist NAO brings rich vocals to masterfully crafted beats that effortlessly mix the genres of neo-soul, funk and electronic that takes you on a musical trip.
NAO hails from East London where she got her start by singing in an all girl group, The Boxettes, until she went solo in 2014. Her first EP, "So Good", introduced her eclectic style of music to the U.S. The EP showcased her ability to beautifully arrange her voice and seamlessly provided an updated feel of 90s RnB. "So Good" received positive reviews and it was clear that NAO had staying power. The single 'Adore You' from the EP warrants the feel of the talented 90s girl group 702 due to NAO’s use of intricate adlibs and reminiscent words over a librating beat.
On July 29th NAO dropped her debut album, "For All We Know". The album captures your attention right from the start with the intro 'Like Velvet'. The album gives off a euphoric feel with melodies that unconsciously makes you sway, especially the song 'Blue Wine'. Without a doubt, NAO is inventing her own musical lane and our only hope is that she continues to share her imaginative artistry with the world. An artist like NAO is truly a blue moon in a music industry that is filled with redundant sounds and artists. For that reason alone we want to help foster a greater collective interest in NAO. Check out her debut album below and purchase it on iTunes here.

Soul Singer Jae Franklin Talks About What Makes Her A Citizen Of The World
Jae Franklin is a Dubai based singer, songwriter and producer who considers herself a 'citizen of the world' due to her travels...
Jae Franklin is a Dubai based singer, songwriter and producer who considers herself a 'citizen of the world' due to her travels across the globe where she is able to do what she loves, which is to sing Soul music in front of captive audiences. Jae's latest release "Cheers to Life" was released earlier this year and is an EP featuring eight songs, one being 'Higher', which was selected as our DOPE Song of the Week recently.
I connected with Jae for this interview not just because she makes DOPE music, but also because I admire that she is a globe trekker and has performed and/or lived in so many diverse places around the world that I aspire to travel to in the future. In this interview, Jae discusses what initially sparked her interest in music, what motivated her to become a solo artist, what her experience has been like in Dubai since she moved there and much more. After reading this interview, do yourself a favor and stream/download her latest EP "Cheers to Life" below.
When you were younger, what sparked your interest in music? Was there a particular song or artist that inspired you to pick up the pen and pad and start writing music?
First, I wanna thank you for connecting with me. Because your platform supports emerging artists like me, we get a chance to connect with more people. When I was younger, I was into everything. I read a lot. I absorbed literature, music, writing, carpentry, dance, science, you name it. I hated geography and history classes though. What really sparked my interest in music was the moment I realized that music was all I could think about. Hearing, singing, writing, performing, playing, composing, and sharing music were my favorite hobbies. The best song I ever heard as a child was "Holding Back the Years" by Simply Red. That was probably my first real favorite pop songs. I just loved the groove and the tone of the singer's voice. It still is one of my favorite songs. I guess the answer would be Simply Red. Oh, and I can't forget about the Voice. Whitney Houston. She was the reason I began singing around Houston. Her look, voice, physique, and demeanor were refreshing. It was like I was looking in a mirror. She inspired me so much as a child.
You've been a part of several groups, including Laughlin Drive, Mahogany, and Sachet. What motivated you to finally take the solo route?
I sang with my sister, Judith, in girl groups for a long time. We would always get so close to record deals, but then things would go south because of management or people not knowing what to do with us. Judith and I are still really close to this day, but we eventually recognized that time was passing and something had to change. I think every singer that has ever been in a group, at some point, has to decide if they wanna stay in a group or go solo. For me, the choice to pursue a solo career came around the Spring of 2007. I was working a 9-5 at a promotions company in Atlanta. I was jaded and not really singing much at that time. I met my now-husband and told him about my journey in music up to that point. He recognized that I still had the passion for music. Between 2007 and 2008, I finally decided to get in front of an audience again. Solo. This was before all the Twitter and Instagram days. It would have been much easier to just post random videos of me singing. But I started going to open mic nights at Apache Cafe in Atlanta, Georgia. The first time I got on stage after all those years, I was literally shaking. I sang Amel Larrieux's "For Real." The band wasn't as familiar with that song so we muddled through it, but that was alright. Some people in the audience kinda laughed. I even had the words written on a piece of paper. Picture it. My shaking like a leaf with the mic was in my left hand and the piece of paper in my right hand. Some folks in the audience laughed louder, but that was alright. I kept going back sporadically that whole year. Through those experiences, I met people and started collaborating and networking. I had to find my voice again. Not only had my voice become a little weak from not singing for a while, but I also had to mentally prepare for the journey that was ahead of me.
You consider yourself a 'citizen of the world'; tell us about some of the places you have performed or lived?
I have performed in a lot of the US states. My favorite was NYC. There's something about the NYC atmosphere that really draws me in. I've lived in the US, Ethiopia, South Korea, Abu Dhabi, and currently Dubai. Ethiopia is other-worldly. I just feel 'at home' and settled when I'm there. The place makes me calm. I think I must have Habesha roots or something. I lived and performed there off and on for about a year. I can't wait to go back. Seoul, South Korea was like NYC on steroids. I lived there for about 2 years. It's a walking city. There is ALWAYS something to see and do. The people have soul and they are very inquisitive about Black American culture. I currently live in Dubai, but I lived in Abu Dhabi before actually moving to Dubai. Abu Dhabi is what Virginia is to Washington, DC. Dubai is like Washington, DC but with a mix of NYC sprinkled in certain parts. I've been in the United Arab Emirates for 3 years. Since arriving in 2013, I've sang on some cool stages and collaborated with some talented musicians, creatives, producers, songwriters, poets, promoters and agencies. It's really the place where I have refocused and gained the most clarity as it relates to music.
For those who have never been to Dubai, including myself, describe it for us. What do you enjoy the most about it?
Dubai is like this big sandbox filled with luxurious cars, boats, hotels, and malls. Among all that, there is a lot of culture here that may go unnoticed to some. What I love about Dubai is the effort the city's officials have made to be inclusive to all nationalities and cultures. There is a thriving and growing arts scene here. There are museums and exhibitions going up every year. Of course, I enjoy the year-round sunny weather, but what I enjoy most is the opportunity to do what I love in a place that is growing so fast. As far as music goes, there hasn't really been a lot of soul or progressive R&B music represented here. I've been performing as much as I can out here. It's important to introduce people to a new sound that they won't necessarily hear on the radio in this region.
Tell us about your latest album "Cheers to Life". What are you most proud of with this album and where can we go to stream/download it?
Social and global issues greatly affected me while I wrote the songs on Cheers to Life. I was also affected by some deep personal changes in my life that kinda turned my world upside down. In the 3 years it took to complete the album, I was directly affected by loss and unspeakable joy. Like everyone else in the world, I had to deal with the highs and lows of life. Three years ago, I kept getting knocked down. I didn't understand why those things were happening to me. At times, I almost didn't recognize myself. Day after day, I journaled, putting all my random thoughts on paper. It was my therapy and a type of self-examination. I began to gain clarity. As a result, my relationships had more purpose and my purpose became refined. I began to heal. I'm still healing. That was the most beautiful part of the whole album-making process for me. I wrote every lyric from an honest place. Cheers to Life is available to stream on Soundcloud, Spotify, and Anghami. It's available for purchase on iTunes and Amazon.
What's next for you musically for these last few months in 2016?
I plan to release another music video from Cheers to Life. I'm putting the final touches on my new EP, which will be out soon. I am lining up tour dates and bookings for 2017. Feeling blessed is an understatement. I'm happy to be in this creative space. I have no intentions of slowing down. The last thing I wanna say is thank you. Thanks for this opportunity to connect with your audience. Means a lot to have your support.

J. Doctorate Discusses His "Impress You" Video, Musical Influences, and Ivy Local
J. Doctorate is one third of Hip Hop group and rap label Ivy Local, based in Salt Lake City, Utah...
J. Doctorate is one third of Hip Hop group and rap label Ivy Local, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in 2013 by J. Doctorate, Warren_Budget and Cause Caption, Ivy Local’s unorthodox approach to rapping and the rap industry has been a defining characteristic of the group. Never afraid of sideways glances or poor reviews, Ivy Local has crafted a sound and live show performance that is as unique as the industry has to offer.
J. Doctorate hails from Logan, Utah. After graduating law school and working diligently as an attorney on the east coast, J. Doctorate returned home to Salt Lake City to pursue his undying passion for rap. Known for his heavily freestyle based method of recording, the rapper’s originality and lyrical dexterity is readily apparent across "No Precedent", his debut mixtape released summer 2016. We connected with J. Doctorate to discuss his very DOPE and creative video "Impress You", the "No Precedent" mixtape, his musical influences, and much more. After reading our exclusive interview with J. Doctorate, stream/download the mixtape below and be prepared to be blown away.
We're big fans of your new visual "Impress You"; whose idea was it to fit the ladies with those big heads and was the track for it really a freestyle?
Really appreciate that. I guess it was a chain of events starting with Warren_Budget’s Low_Budget mixtape release party we threw earlier this year. Because it was a mask party, Budget and I ended up checking out Farina’s costume shop in SLC, saw the heads, and the idea was planted.
As for the track, it really is a freestyle. I had worked out the words for the chorus ahead of time only, and that’s it. Everything else - the verses, song structure, how to actually sing the chorus, etc. - was all freestyled in that one take. I rolled with it because I thought it kind of captured everything I wanted about that song. And what can I say, I love that it’s a true freestyle.
What emcees influenced you to pick up the pen and pad back in the day?
In the mid 90’s my obsession with rap started with Coolio’s Gangsta’s Paradise. That was definitely my track. I was totally captivated by the sound of it. So much so that super young me was compelled to write a remix called Coca Cola Paradise. I was so young and ridiculous that this was literally and earnestly an ode to how much I loved drinking Coca Cola. I was also a huge Ma$e fan in the 90’s, thought No Way Out was incredible, loved the 2Pac greatest hits album that my neighbor played constantly, and also was a big fan of Jay-Z’s Vol 2…Hard Knock Life, among others.
How does one go from law school and taking the bar exam in Philly to releasing a Hip-Hop mixtape while in Salt Lake City?
Man, it’s hard to really make a lot of sense of it all sometimes. It’s been a very strange and winding journey of figuring out what I should be doing here on this earth. I do know that I love making rap music with my best friends and I love living in Salt Lake City, being high up in the mountains, in a city and area on the rise for real.
Tell us about "No Precedent". What does this mixtape mean to you and what message are you conveying to the world with it?
No Precedent is my debut solo mixtape, released on June 13, 2016. It marks a very important turning point for myself as an artist to finally get this released. Over the past two years I had accumulated a ton of songs, and had been featured prominently on Warren Budget’s Low_Budget mixtape, but something was still missing. To capture this period, I needed to package some of my work together in a project, and No Precedent is the result. It feels so good to get it out there, and I fucking love it.
Although No Precedent wasn’t created or assembled with an intent to convey any particular message, I do think it serves to help convey my arrival, and the arrival of Ivy Local.
What is Ivy Local and who is involved with the label?
In the context of a live show performance, Ivy Local means the rap duo of myself and Warren_Budget. But Ivy Local is also the name of our rap label and movement. Founded in 2013 by J. Doctorate, Warren_Budget and Cause Caption, all of our individual and group projects are released under the Ivy Local label.
Being in control of the Ivy Local label and recording out of our apartment gives us the huge advantage of being able to create exactly what we want to make, when we want to make it, without any restrictions placed on us whatsoever. It’s a pretty amazing thing really to have that kind of freedom to make rap music. For better or worse, that’s how No Precedent ended up with tracks like Middle Name Was Birdie, Dollars Circulate (remix), and Booty Gimbal. We call all the shots and sometimes we might get a little reckless. But hey, that’s life.
What's next for you musically after "No Precedent" and what are your goals for the rest of 2016?
For Ivy Local, its all about pushing forward. I think our best format might be the live show and we are trying to play wherever possible. We recently were fortunate enough to open for Riff Raff as part of his Peach Panther Tour at the Complex in Salt Lake City. It was a beautiful night. There’s nothing we’d like more than to keep building on this momentum and play more and more shows, particularly outside of our beloved Utah. I also wouldn’t be surprised if an Ivy Local collaborative mixtape dropped sometime before 2016 is up.
What message do you have for those who haven't heard your music? Why should they go to Getrightmusic.com after reading this interview and download "No Precedent”?
If you want to hear some very original shit, check it out! If you want to hear a track called Booty Gimbal or Leaves Be So Green, check it out! But ultimately No Precedent is the kind of mixtape that is meant to be listened to from front to back, across its entire 43 minutes. No skits, no talking, just hip hop music. It’s an absolutely different type of hip hop mixtape. And I’m very proud of that.

With people not buying albums anymore and craving GOOD music, Mahogany Marie seeks to take on this market by storm. Mahogany has been writing and performing since the tender age of 11 and appreciates a wide range of genres. Not the type to be "Boxed in", her leing mantra is..."If it is a risk being yourself..then that's a risk worth taking". Peace and many blessings to all that follow her on her journey to prove that you really CAN make all of your dreams come true:)
Mahogany Marie was born and raised in Chicago, IL where at aged 8 she discovered her talent for writing. By age 11 she had written her first song and her teacher encouraged the young Mahogany to enter a school talent contest which she won 1st place. Still not quite convinced of her own emerging talent, it was not until in 6th grade, when her classmates encouraged her to volunteer to sing the song ‘Sweet Home Chicago’ on a field trip to see ‘The House of Blues’ did Mahogany realize that maybe what others were saying about her was actually true.
At age 16, she teamed up with house music DJ/Producer Harrison Crump, to form the all-girl group Je'monet. Mahogany performed with the group at the Harold Washington Cultural Center, Kennedy King College and what was formally known as the cotton club on Chicago's south side. The group later broke up due to artistic differences.
Mahogany continued to perform in musical theater in high school, playing the lead role of Dorothy in the ‘Wiz’ and the lead in ‘Taming of the Shrew’. After many well received performances, she continued to perform in several musicals in Chicago. During this time Mahogany was fortunate enough to meet and work with Oscar Brown Jr in the twilight years of his career. Oscar Brown Jr included her in several of his own original musical productions as well.
As time went on Mahogany also performed in "My Chicago’ and ‘School Daze’ with the Margaret Mahdi Production Company. During this time she continued to develop her singing and song writing abilities citing major influences such as Prince, Erykah badu, Lauryn Hill , Amy Winehouse, and Taylor swift.
Currently she is working on her second EP called "my open diary" that is due to be released in early fall. Stay tuned for some big releases coming from this talented artist and make sure to follow her on this personal music journey.

Brooklyn Brewery Launches Their Own Record Label

Nothing beats kicking back with a delicious brew and listening to some awesome tunes. Brooklyn Brewery, based in (you guessed it) Brooklyn, New York, realized they had all the makings of a music fan base. They had followers passionate about the brewery and iconic name; a famous name recognized and respected around the United States and abroad; and even bands that loyally and exclusively worked with the brewery. They boldly chose to diversify from craft beer and into the music industry, starting with the United Kingdom-based rock band, the Graveltones. The band, made of drummer Mikey Sorbello and vocalist/guitarist Jimmy O, who are most renowned in London and Germany, made their way to Rough Trade in London to celebrate the launching of the label in July with some of Brooklyn Brewery’s most loyal fans.
Though the brewery is renowned across the United States and is recognizable to drinkers worldwide, the record label isn’t looking for fame; rather, they aim to support emerging, young, independent artists. It was important to the brewery to bring the spirit of Brooklyn, which fosters creative artists of all walks, to the global music industry. They’re starting in the United Kingdom, hoping to plant firm roots in a growing music scene before expanding again. Brooklyn Brewery’s brand ambassador, Rachael Weseloh, told Music Week that the brewery was “keen to bring [the Brooklyn spirit] to the UK, taking original, independent bands and pressing the unadulterated sound to vinyl, to be listened to as intended- loud and raw.”
While the Graveltones are keeping Brooklyn Brewery plenty busy this fall as they navigate the early stages of the record label, new bands and musicians are certainly are on the horizon. Keep your eyes peeled and ears prepared for some of the authentic, raw music that Brooklyn Brewery Records will be signing soon.

UK RnB artist Jordan King just released the first track of his forthcoming EP "The Night Shift". P.W.I (Play With It) described by King as his arrival track, paves the way for what is to be expected from the young artist this September.
Produced by UK female producer R7, 'P.W.I' is a cheeky, flirtatious, no filter and no nonsense track which sets the tone of King's forthcoming EP. Directed more at his female fans, or Queens as King would call them, this introductory track exudes confidence and sex appeal whilst setting the record straight with regards to Kings alternative sound.
“I refer to this as my arrival track because that’s exactly what it is. It says ‘I’m here, I’m ready and I’m playing by my own rules” – Jordan King
King began developing his sound in his early teens and has been writing and producing music ever since. 'P.W.I' was chosen for the early release due to its creation being what inspired King to complete the much-anticipated EP.
“I love it when things come about organically and that’s exactly what happened with PWI. Just catching a vibe in the studio lead to the creation of an EP I can’t wait to drop!” - Jordan King

Pop artist Emii has released her latest single, “Wait”, on iTunes and all streaming platforms including Spotify and Apple Music, as well as Amazon and Google Play. The uptempo song was co-written by Emii and Asia Bryant, and produced by The Fliptones.
“Wait” evokes universally held emotions of young women about how and when to express
their love to the boy who could be the one. Said Emii, “It’s about knowing that you are in

be there for you in the end.”
Co-writer Asia Bryant has placed songs with iconic artists Jennifer Lopez (“Booty” &
“Girls”), Miley Cyrus (“Hands in the Air”), Drake and Lil Wayne (“Show Me Love). The
Fliptones (Chaz William Mishan and David Delazyn) are credited with several #1 records,

Our Exclusive Interview With RnB/Soul Singer-Songwriter THAi Lynch
THAi (Pronounced As Ty) is A 16 Year Old R&B Soul Singer, Songwriter, & Musician From Houston, Texas...
THAi (Pronounced As Ty) is A 16 Year Old R&B Soul Singer, Songwriter, & Musician From Houston, Texas. She has been singing since the tender age of 7. When her mom discovered she possessed a beautiful melodic voice, she started THAi to performing in church with the Sunshine Choir. Taking on many lead vocals and singing in the soprano section of the children's choir at her church, THAi's voice began to develop even more. She has performed in many talent show cases, weddings, and parties. THAi has also received many awards and honorable mentions for her outstanding flute performances! It is her destiny to write music from experience in which her audience can relate to. She feels that it is not about the money and the fame but about the love of music which is her passion!
We connected with THAi to find out how she balances being a high school student with her aspirations as an artist, what sparked her interest in singing and songwriting and much more.
What sparked your interest in singing and songwriting?
Well, I can remember when I was around 6 or 7 years old, I loved to watch Hannah Montana on Disney channel. I enjoyed the singing and the music from that show and the secret life that she led as a famous pop star. That's when I began singing and my mom took notice and she was so excited to learn that I had potential. From there on my mom put me in the children's choir at our church and it's been a singing journey ever since. So I would have to say that Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana started me to singing. I enjoy it and I also enjoy writing! I love music and being a musician! It's just amazing!
Who are some of your musical influences and if you could only choose one of them to do a collaborative track with, who would it be?
Some of my musical influences are Justin Bieber, The Beatles, The Jackson 5, Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, Chris Brown, Christina Perri, & Jhene Aiko. If I could only choose one to do a collaborative track with, that's a no brainer. I would definitely choose Justin Bieber. It's been one of my dreams and destiny to one day record a song with him. I think he's an awesome musician and entertainer and very gifted person.
Tell us about your skills on the flute. Do you plan on incorporating that instrument on an EP or album at some point?
Well, I have been playing the flute for about 5 or 6 years now. I absolutely love it and I enjoy it. I'm great at it but it's not a passion for me. My dad has asked me a few times if I would try to incorporate my flute skills on one of my original songs. I think it's a possibility that I might do that at some point or another as I progress in my music career. We'll see.
How do you balance your goals as an artist with your commitment as a high school student?
It's very hard at times to balance my commitment as a high school student with my commitment and love for music. I'm a member of the choir, the marching band, and the step team at my school. Sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled into numerous directions. I can get a little cranky at times and tough to deal with because of my demanding schedule. But I have a very supportive team, friends, and family. They look out for me which makes it easy to deal with my schedule. So yeah, you gotta have a support system to help you cope. It's very important.
Would you say that your music is influenced at all by your surroundings in Houston?
No I wouldn't say that my music is influenced by my Houston surroundings. Instead, it's influenced by some of my favorite artists and musicians. I incorporate that with my own style and because I like so many different genres of music, you never know what you're going to get out of me. Although I am an R&B kind of girl, I'm also a country kind of girl, and I sometimes can be a punk rock kind of girl. So you just never know what you're going to get.
What's next for you musically and what are your goals for the rest of 2016?
Well, what's next for me musically is, more singing, more song writing, more studio time, & trying to get my music heard all over the world. Right now I'm focused on preparing for the East Texas Music Awards in Bullard Texas. I have been nominated for R&B artist of the year and I will also be performing two of my original songs on the night of the ceremony. I'm going up against Letoya Luckett and some other R&B artists as well. So I have my work cut out for me. I am definitely in this industry for the long haul. It is my passion. It's my dream and it is my destiny! With that being said, music is what I will be doing for the rest of 2016.
Thank you for interviewing me and for this wonderful opportunity!

Peter Bee Q&A: Short Advice for the Emerging Artist

Last week, I sat down with Peter Bee, an Australian musician and audio engineer who made quite a splash in the music scene worldwide.
Throughout his five-year career with former band Clairy Browne and the Banging Raquettes, Peter says he was able to see and experience things he never thought possible had it not been for the music. His band went on multiple tours, playing shows in America, Australia, Europe, and even as far as Tokyo. Their music videos racked up millions of views, and the attention attracted Vanguard Records and the Creative Artist’s Agency. ABC Radio National named his band’s album, Baby Caught the Bus, as the 2011 album of the year. Shortly after during the 2012 Olympics, Heineken released a commercial featuring one of their songs.
But before all of his success, who was Peter Bee?
Born in Canberra, the Capitol of Australia, Peter developed a love for music at a very early age. His mother only owned two albums, and no one in his family showed any interest in music. His father was in the Navy for the majority of his childhood, forcing Peter to move around Australia at least seven times before settling in New South Wales at the age of 12. Once 21, Peter went on to University and studied law for five years before moving to Sydney.
As a self taught audio engineer, Peter was soon recruited to the small South Australian town of Adelaide to produce an album for a local band. What started as a short-term project turned into a four-year stay, prompting him to seek change and relocate to Melbourne upon the album’s completion.
Working in a small café in the city, Peter crossed paths with a friend of a singer called Clairy Browne, who introduced the pair in 2009. He and Clairy began jamming over mulled wine in Peter’s apartment, writing songs and connecting through similar music tastes. The duo began performing in a soul garage every week, eventually putting together a band. The band’s first gig attracted the attention of a manager- and the rest is history. Even after the band’s wild success, the members decided to go on permanent hiatus in 2011 in order for Clairy to pursue a solo career.
Luckily, I was able to pick Peter’s brain and provide the interview below. If you are interested in the glamorous touring life, or want to make music your profession, I suggest you read on!
Q & A
What is the best aspect of touring?
Well, without touring I never would have been able to travel. I met so many amazing people and saw so many amazing places. I never felt homesick because I always had such an incredible time.
I Imagine touring can get a bit strenuous, what would you say is the most difficult part about it?
Money was a bit tight after a while, and that was a big issue. We also were too busy working to sometimes enjoy the places we played at. We would perform and spend about thirty minutes of downtime, only to immediately pack up our gear and drive two hours to the hotel. Space was tight and it could sometimes add tension between the band members. All of that aside, the whole experience was amazing.
Once the band began to take off, how did all the attention feel?
It was actually pretty crazy. We received fan mail, signed autographs, and were treated really well. One occasion we even partied with The Roots. It never became overwhelming though. There is no point getting into this business if you don’t want to please the fans.
What advice do you have for emerging artists who want to make music their career?
The term “music business” is exactly what it sounds like- half music and half business. If you’re serious about it, you have to get the business side taken care of first. Work out why you’re getting into the business. Always think about contracts and the relationships you have with other artists and management, etc. Be extremely professional and knock out the necessities early. On top of that, make sure you get everything in writing. If you’re in a band, make sure you talk about expectations and get on the exact same page from day one. But most importantly, don’t do it to prove anything to anyone. Don’t alter your life for anyone but yourself. You have to love your work. Being an artist can open up your vulnerabilities and leave you constantly searching for validation. Happiness comes from within, and being happy with who you are. The only acceptance you need is from yourself.
These days, you can find Peter in the heart of Melbourne working at his studio, Studio Bee. He has a comfortable life playing gigs and acting as an important member in the Melbourne music community.
Thank you immensely to Peter for sharing his knowledge and connecting with Dopecausewesaid.
