Young Drummer Boy, born Rigoberto Diaz, is an American rapper and record producer from Pomona, California. The son of Mexican immigrants, Diaz grew up in a family with deep musical roots. His father was a member of Mexican rock band, Banda Ruby, and his grandfather was a real life Mariachi in the streets of Zacatecas, Mexico.

Young Drummer Boy learned to play drums at a young age and quickly gravitated towards all genres of music. Growing up in a city that has produced many West Coast rap legends,Drummer was heavily influenced by the rapping and production of DJ Quik, the slick street rhymes of Suga Free, and the lyrical prowess of Tha Dogg Pound, Kurupt and Daz Dillinger.

Young Drummer Boy has released his new album “Same Click”, via the Bay Area music gatekeeper EMPIRE, heavily influenced by his West Coast roots and life experiences. The 12-track offering hosts appearances by fellow West Coast rappers $tupid Young, Rucci, Azjah and more.

On his newest release, Drummer not only reaches for newer heights of notoriety, but the versatile artist and producer, who was previously a part of King Lil G’s AK47Boyz, also uses his vulnerability as an insight into his past life. Drummer tells HYPEBEAST:

"With this album, I wanted to reach my core fan base. I’ve never been the type of artist to chase radio or try to cater to people who really don’t give a fuck about me... I speak about the obstacles I’ve overcome and got the chance at a second shot at life that most of my homies were never given... I wanted to show the emotion and motivation that inspired me and made me the man I am today."

For the first single, Drummer tapped $tupid Young for his salute to the West Coast, "Everything Go," which was premiered via WORLDSTARHIPHOP and has reached over 700k views. Ahead of that, his breakthrough video for "Talk About Me" accumulated 2.5M views to date on YouTube, and over 519K streams on Spotify. With previous collabs, such as Hi Tone and more, this West Coast rapper is consistently shaping the culture and is one to keep an eye on.
