Big ups to you on the release of your new video "4ME". Tell us what inspired you to write the track initially and why you decided to shoot a video for it.
I honestly didn’t even write this song. Every song just comes to me as I create it…I would call it freestyling but everyone wants to think their freestyling.
Who directed the video and how did you come up with the treatment for it?
My close friend Adre directed the video; you can follow him @adrediddat on Instagram.
I came up with the concept drinking coffee in the Veterans Resource Center and one of the vets showing me one of his favorite places to eat.
Describe the Hip-Hop music scene in Fontana, CA. Would you say that locals are generally supportive of homegrown talent like yourself?
The hip-hop scene in Fontana is whatever tbh. The only person to blow is Hit-Boy and maybe a few other low key artists. But having solid friends in the area who support me is cool; I get support from all over. You can’t just make it by being “the best artist coming out of Fontana”.
Tell us about the ABB collective that you're a part of.
ABB is my cousin Dave Balmain’s label. He has his own artist such as Jay Prophet and in-house producers. I’m on the label but not as a artist; just for support and to help managing, and anything he does, I’m involved in and vice versa.
What are some of your goals musically for yourself as an artist and for your label Careless Money Recordings for the remainder of 2019?
My goals include getting radio airplay, getting the proper interviews, doing the right shows to gain revenue, and to release a successful line of merchandise.
For the label, I want all the artists to be independent and make moves without me being with them, but still repping Careless Money till the very end. I wanna make everyone who has been with me a millionaire and get their families rich so we can spread generational wealth.
