We connected with Chicago based Christian Hip-Hop artist BRM for an exclusive interview to discuss his DOPE new visual “Pop Off”, as well as his recently released album “Gods Goon”. BRM definitely has a story to tell, so it was great to pick his brain about his spiritual journey, his music, and his goals for the future.

If you’re a fan of NF, Lecrae, and Kendrick Lamar, you’ll for sure enjoy BRM’s music, so after reading our Q&A, be sure to connect with him on his social media, and stream/share “Pop Off” and “Gods Goon” on Spotify.

Congratulations on the completion and release of your album "Gods Goon". What are you most proud of with this project?

Most proud of putting out an album, and one with 13 tracks on it. I was always more of a “put singles out” guy … but with joining my new label Rapture Ready Productions we wanted to put out an album. I was really proud of the fact that many seemed to understand what my objective/theme was for this album, and that was meeting people where they are at, like GOD did with me!

"Pop Off" is one of many very dope tracks on the album; why did you select it to make a visual for?

Thank you … and it was crazy! As soon as I heard the beat and wrote the hook for this track, popping balloons during the hook came to my mind. I already had a vision for the video before I even wrote the 1st verse. The balloons symbolizing my words and me popping off from the mouth!

Why is important for you to integrate your spiritual journey as a Christian into your music?

I want to tell people my testimony. How God saved my life, marriage, and met me where I was at. Took me out the dirt, said my past doesn’t define me, HE does!

If you could pick any CHH artist to include on a remix to "Pop Off" who would you add?

Besides artists from my team over at Rapture Ready Productions, I would love to have my guy Jeff Love (JE), Big Bean BOSTON, Hilgy, Mitch Darrell, NF, Derek Minor to name of few ;)

When someone watches "Pop Off" or stream it for the first time, what do you want them to take away from the experience?

I want them to enjoy the track and move along to it …but really want them to think about what is it they are saying when they “POP OFF FROM THE MOUTH” … what are they saying, talking about. Our words are impactful!

With the "Pop Off" visual now released, what are your goals musically for the remaining months of 2019?

“Pop Off” was a visual off of my newly released “GODS GOON” album … so there will be more visuals coming off of the album. Will drop some more singles, work on some collabs, get out and perform some, and keep writing more music :)
