Watch "HIM/ME", the Visual For the New Single From Sudanese Prodigy Yahya
Young Sudanese prodigy and rapidly rising talent Yahya follows up his recently acclaimed “Seasons Change Feelings Change” EP with a scintillating new single entitled “HIM/ME” and a captivating set visuals to match.
The precocious, multi-talented youngstar — who shot to notoriety with his hit “Didn’t Believe Me” — resurfaces with a powerfully gripping and hyper-imaginative music video to his new single “HIM/ME”. Combining his unique voice and compelling lyricism, Ahmed Yahya serves up another enthralling cut containing eerie acoustic riffs and snappy snare kicks which provides the perfect soundtrack for his raw vocals to dance between.
The visuals are produced by esteemed creative Jay Waneta, widely renowned for his work on some of the biggest names in the scene right now. With credits on Baby Keem’s “Honest”, Lil Uzi Vert’s “Futsal Shuffle” and Yung Bleu’s “Moon Boy”, Jay Waneta continues to make serious waves within the music industry and now teams up with Yahya for his latest project. Showcasing the Sudanese artist as two versions of himself — “HIM/ME” acts as a powerful but timely reminder of the young artist’s innate skill in crafting some of the most creative and relatable music to date.
Speaking on the new release, Yahya states: “The song, the instrumentation and the vocals carry, and express certain hopelessness felt when he is trying to grow and let go of the cycles that hinder him. “Are you familiar with the name Ahmed, he went and gave it all, he died and left me in the morning I'm so free I feel it all’ — the bliss felt from the release of the past and its pain that causes us to stand still, the ability to rebirth yourself. Rising from the ashes of the man he was.”
Growing up in the United States, Yahya naturally gravitated towards Hip-Hop but developing his sound using cuts from trap, R&B and rock, his 2020 hit project Is It Too Late To Miss You showcased a clear flair for diversity in his vocals and instrumentals.
2021 developed into a milestone year– releasing his acclaimed 4th project Days Pass amassing over 1.2 million streams on Spotify, the experimental project’s lead single “Didn’t Believe Me” was accompanied by his first official music video - written and performed by himself which would race to over 500,000 views on YouTube, solidifying Yahya’s complete creative vision and identity. Fast forward to 2022 and the young Sudanese artist has already dropped one of the most fascinating projects to date entitled Seasons Change Feelings Change, containing a slew of emotive soundtracks poignant in today’s society.
One of the most captivating and nuanced young artists coming through right now, this new single stands to mark 2022 as another milestone year for an artist constantly breaking barriers within the creative world.
