Toronto Rapper Ekelle Stays True to Her Identity With the New Single/Video "Gimmie"
Playing an integral role in the evolution of hip hop, Toronto, Canada rapper Ekelle stays true to her identity with her latest single/video “Gimmie” produced by B. Morales, from her upcoming EP due Summer 2020.
“Gimmie” pays homage to the LGBTQIA+ community and Ekelle’s journey coming into her own sexuality, giving her a new lease on life. When setting out to re-introduce herself in a meaningful way, “Gimmie” was born. Led by her new lease on life, she let the luscious beat move her soul, and her experiences empower her with a dominant flow and unapologetic lyrics. Ekelle uses her music as a way to not only ground herself but to keep her moving.
“We are all made of different parts that make us one special, unique human being. If I want people to feel connected to my music and encourage them to embrace all the things that make them who they are then I have to lead by example.
I wanted to drop my song along with the Toronto Pride Parade and Stonewall Riot Anniversary because of the resilience, strength, diversity and of course unapologetic flair that the LGBTQ+ community is made of - I wanted to make a positive contribution to the celebration.” - Ekelle
