NYC Soul-Pop Band Scruffy Pearls Releases the Visuals For Their Single "Letting Loose"
The NYC-based soul-pop band Scruffy Pearls have released a new music video for their original song, “Letting Loose.”
“We love writing songs that feel familiar and timeless but also incorporate fresh and modern production elements,” said the jazzy vocalist, Carly Brooke.
With their first EP under their belt, Scruffy Pearls have made a splash in the NYC live music scene. They’ve been selling out shows at Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, and Sofar Sounds while capturing fans with their soulful tunes and honest feel-good performances.
Their signature blend of jazzy vocals intertwined with bright horn arrangements and deep rhythmic grooves has led them to open for well-known acts such as, Lukas Nelson + Promise of the Real, Lawrence, and Parsonsfield.
And with their second EP on the way, Scruffy Pearls will continue turning the heads of industry folks and fans alike. NBC's Today Show's Jenna Wolfe gushes, "A beautiful engaging mix of Amy Winehouse and Mumford and Sons that gets me all excited." Formed by two couples from NYC, Scruffy Pearls now boasts a talented line-up of six eclectic musicians - Carly Brooke on vocals, RJ Gatsby on keys, ukulele, harmonica, and acoustic guitar, Parker McAllister on bass, Renee Hikari on Drums, Billy Pearson on electric guitar, and Adam Abresch on trumpet.
“All six of us grew up listening to very different music. We have a wide variety of tastes which helps us brings all kinds of unique ideas to our music” says Scruffy Pearls drummer Renee Hikari. Their influences range from Bill Withers to Fleetwood Mac, John Legend, Ella Fitzgerald and Randy Newman.
