NYC Based Duo Club Soccer Release Their New Visual "It's Not Time to Relax"

Club Soccer is the matching of Argentinian producer/songwriter Nico Brunstein and Brazilian born, singer/songwriter Nando Dale. Both students at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute, the two have found a passion for putting indie rock, dream pop and jazz into a psychedelic smoothie.

Nico and Nando have just released the incredible visual for their song “It's Not Time to Relax”, directed by Albie Smith. Regarding the song itself, it evokes feelings of restlessness -- feeling like you should be creating something when you're bored or relaxed.

For the video, Albie uses live butterflies, live caterpillars, a lighthouse, and a dead body to illustrate his strange "vision" for finding artistic inspiration. He wanted to create a video that is first calming, then banal, then alarming, then eerie. This is often how he experiences the creative process.

In speaking about the clip, Albie says, “We shot the project on 16mm film, using a Bolex H16. Film provided us with limitations as well benefits. For one, film is expensive and restrictive in how many takes you can shoot. However, the look of 16mm is beautiful, authentic, and it serviced the nostalgic atmosphere of the project.

We used live caterpillars and butterflies in this film, which was a tricky yet rewarding challenge. They added a beautifully energetic feeling to the film we shot.” Albie chose caterpillars to illustrate the slow, creeping feeling of boredom that the protagonist in the story feels. Caterpillars and butterflies also symbolically represent the rebirth (and the death) of creativity.
