Lithuanian RnB/Alt Hip-Hop Artist Cheri Presents Her New Single/Video "Diss"
Being a strong voice of the new generation artists in Lithuania, Cheri makes a statement about sexual objectification in her latest single/video ‘Diss’.
‘With this track, I wanted to turn the tables on one specific group of people - that man-boy type males who are only aspired to prove their maturity and man-hood through the material abundance and a list of girls they’ve slept with. The same ones who can’t take ‘no’ for an answer and don’t know how to deal with female rejection’, says Cheri.
It’s not the first time that Cheri draws attention to one of the problems of our society. ‘Breaking boundaries of what’s acceptable in men and women behaviour is necessary. We should be more open about what people can or can’t do based on the old fashioned ‘rules’ someone created. Maybe then we’ll have less males who can’t grow up just being themselves, who constantly try to prove something to society because their personal qualities don’t qualify as ‘manly’ enough and so on’.
Cheri’s music is inspired by southern hip hop, ‘dirty 00s pop’ and female rap. Mixing the best features from these genres, her charisma and strong opinion towards the problems of the world makes Cheri a unique and strong voice of the new generation artists in Lithuania.
