LA Singer-Songwriter Emily James Unveils Empowering New Video For "Nobody's Baby"
Los Angeles based pop-singer/songwriter Emily James has just premiered the official music video for her single, “Nobody’s Baby,” exclusively on VEVO. “Nobody’s Baby” is the third single off of James’ debut album, “Til the Morning,” which was released in February of this year.
Set in the 1920’s era of speakeasies, “flapper girls,” and the music of the Jazz Age, “Nobody’s Baby” depicts a young woman who finds herself in a dead-end relationship and takes back the power, re-establishing her independence. By the end of the video, we see that she has broken free and revels in her new-found liberation.
When writing “Nobody’s Baby,” James was hoping her message of empowerment would help other young women in difficult relationships and situations. “I’ve had this vision of the video taking place in the 1920s ever since I wrote the song. Filming a period video had a lot of challenges in trying to keep things as authentic as possible, but it was fun to portray a young woman in the 1920s, learning to stand up for herself. Times have changed a lot for women since the ‘20s, but many of the same issues are still relevant in today’s social climate.”
