Elysaé Returns With a Fiery New Music Video, "Angel (Wash It Away)"
Unapologetically haunting, Elysaé is back with a tribe of warriors in her scorching new video, 'Angel (Wash It Away)', one that is guaranteed to transform your pain into power.
After hitting #4 on the AMRAP Regional Charts with her self-empowerment anthem, ‘Blinded,’ and recently becoming a semi-finalist in the Listen Up Songwriting Prize, Elysaé is back, stronger than ever with an artful expression of anger and pain.
“Born out of a time when I felt crippled by enragement and resentment, ‘Angel (Wash It Away)’ was my way of unabashedly expressing myself and releasing the pent up emotion that had devoured my body. Anger is an emotion that is often shamed and suppressed in society, to only then arise in explosive ways, so I wanted to create a piece that portrayed the fiery emotion in a passionate and beautiful way.”
Shot by Joel Bryant (The Lone Creative) at the eery Voodoo Rocks in Cronulla, the video features 13 fire dancers from various locations spanning from Sydney to Newcastle, and tells a story of finding empowerment through tribal connection.
In an unforgettable display of blazing light and interpretive dance, the video will have you captivated from the opening scene. Alone and lost, Elysaé stumbles across a single palm torch washed up on the beach. With curiosity, she embarks on a journey and finds herself summoned by the local fire tribe. She is guided up a cliff face where she is mesmorised by the sight before her and is then initiated into the tribe. The feeling of community and belonging reignites the passion and power within her.
“The element of fire is passionate, instinctual and explosive in nature and so it felt only fitting that the song be visually represented by it. The vision was brewing for some time and sent me on a journey to connect with the most creative, expressive and enthusiastic fire performers to collaborate with. Coming together from all walks of life, we transformed under the moonlight, decorating our bodies with black and gold. High on euphoria, we created magic and truly became family.”
Co-produced by Luke Carra (Caravãna Sun) and Ian Prichett (Angus & Julia Stone, The Beautiful Girls, Kim Churchill), ‘Angel (Wash It Away)’ is rich with instrumental detail. Uniquely constructed with aggressive guitars, haunting atmospheres and dynamic melodies, the video perfectly compliments the passionate and anthemic track and will leave you feeling empowered and courageous.
