Check Out Jack Crooks' New DIY Lo-Fi Hip-Hop Video "lo fi luv" Part 1

Jack Crooks is a Melbourne based artist, writer and producer from Fremantle, Western Australia. Since a teenager, Jack has been developing his craft as a Hip-Hop artist, cultivating a strange and unique voice and vivid lyrical content.

Following his debut EP in 2017: ETTA, Jack has spent 2018 developing his most recent release, 'lo fi luv', as well creating, running and headlining The Big Show!, a multi-arts performance and exhibition event celebrating artistic diversity.

We’ve got Jack Crooks’ new DIY lo-fi Hip-Hop concept music video/performance ready to share with you. It comes in at just under 13 minutes but is worth every second and focuses on moving from bright, upbeat tracks, outfits and colour schemes into dark and somber tracks, outfits and colour schemes in order to represent a journey into the darker parts of one's soul and psyche. The film is in two parts, part 2 will be released before the end of the year.

Designed, created and produced by Jack Crooks, and filmed by professional street photographer Matthew Dunford (grxves), the film was an attempt at capturing authentic, in the moment creativity and delivering this in raw form, so most of the creative elements including songwriting, film style, scene creation, outfit choice, body movement/dance, editing and even the paintings themselves are in keeping with the lo-fi concept.

The instrumentals are from a range of popular lo-fi YouTube beatmakers, and are credited in the video and in the description. The paintings used are by Abstract Expressionist artist Frank Sita, who is also Jack's music teacher.

Enjoy the concept music video/performance below and be sure to connect with Jack Crooks on his social media. Also, stay tuned because we’ll be sharing our exclusive interview with him very soon.
