Boston's Slothrust Shares Their New Video "Double Down"
No matter the decade, there have always been artists who walk to their own beat, do whatever they please regardless of what others have to say. In doing so, they attract new fans and inspire the younger generation to do the same. If you’re looking for someone to go against societal norms and do what they want, look no further. Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Leah Wellbaum is accompanied by drummer Will Gorin, and bassist Kyle Bann come together to form Slothrust.
Full of lyrical grit, and angry yet pleasing guitar tones, the Boston based trio stays true to their rebellious nature of doing as they please in their latest single “Double Down.” Wellbaum is an unapologetic soul who doesn’t particularly care for the ‘normal’ person and how view her. She makes it ever so clear that she will walk her own walk and nothing will hold her back. Sardonically leaning on customers, disrupting their normal activities inside the laundromat, and causing a scene with every action, Wellbaum fully portrays her angsty wild child ways.
Bursting onto the scene in 2010 with their self-released EP titled, The Demo(n)s, Slothrust made it ever so clear they were here to stay and they were going to take control of the industry on their own terms. Since their first EP, the band has released four studio albums with their most recent being, Show Me How You Want It To Be, which was released in November of 2017. Aside from their studio work, Slothrust are absolute machines when it comes to hitting the road and bringing their creations to the diehard fans who support them the most. As if their studio work wasn’t enough, the amount of tours that the band has embarked on since their conception is absolutely astonishing, most notably supporting Highly Suspect in 2016. Slothrust show no signs of slowing down anytime soon either. These road warriors will be heading out on a two month long full U.S. tour, starting in September.
