The Affricerdd Collective is Tŷ Cerdd’s participatory project aiming at a diversity of young adults making music in Cardiff, in which visiting artists share music-making and discussion with participants each week. “Under Skies” is the creative response, composed and recorded during the lockdown, of 2 of those young participants (Blank Face & Zuubek) to creative material from the sessions.

“Under Skies” references how we all as humans are stronger together and has a mix of different references using Welsh, Nigerian pidgin, Yoruba and English. The instrumentals were done by Zuubek, a young creative artist based in Wales. He referenced instruments like the Balafon and Guinean drumming. He also had composition references from Idrissa Camara and welsh composer Lisa Lan, to further execute the vision of the Affricerdd Collective.

“Under Skies” has also been performed at the virtual carnival event, The Butetown Carnival. This performance was also published on their carnival page on AM alongside other budding musical artists.
