Following her second single “no one”, South Asian UK-based artist Manpreet Kundi has released her third single “don't wake me” on all streaming platforms, further setting the heartfelt tone for her upcoming EP.

Whether it's being hooked on a heavenly feeling, or so breathlessly swept up in a moment that you're unable to ground yourself––”don't wake me” is a song written about clinging to wisps of tangibility, as one may cling to that of an affecting dream they don't want to end. It runs a little deeper than avidly daydreaming and obsessing over things you can't have and rather, may have become a natural response. Lyrically, inspiration was also drawn from the idea of being so emotionally caught up in something, it's as if that situation no longer has gravity. Sonically, the song sounds like floating; with delicate lyricisms, eerie vocals, a contrast of dream-like elements with heavier ones, and a crescendo of an outro that leaves you weightless.

Layered in all aspects like clouds upon clouds, “don't wake me” serves to depict "living in a moment––big or small––long after the moment is over." The idea of furthering a narrative in your own mind, akin to a kind of deluded reality (again comparable to a dream.) In this state imagination takes free rein, running wild; refusing to face harsh realities, truths and consequences. "Taking head-in-the-clouds to a treacherous new level, where a moment could mean everything to you, but something different in reality."

The track is layered with dreamy soundscapes which ebb and flow, intertwining with Manpreet's raw, soulful vocals. Hard-hitting drums and deep bass punch through like a ticking clock fading in and out of a dream. The listener is swept along with the enchanting piano accompaniment, interspersed with flowing strings; journeying through the dynamic arrangement like emotions. Her boyfriend Michael Brooker is the main producer on “don’t wake me”, with Manpreet engaging in elements of co-production and voicing general direction; collaboratively exploring and enhancing her vision for the song.

Manpreet casts a glitter-dripping spell of magical, emotive piano and mesmeric vocals to move you with the innate rawness and sentiment they carry. Writing music mainly at her piano; she is constantly inspired and liberated by the instrument that ever-propels her dynamic songcraft. Her heady, slow-tempo and cinematic style is reflective of main musical influence Lana Del Rey; as well as the 80's and 90's Disney movie soundtracks she began singing along to at 3 years old. She also grew up a fan of Taylor Swift, who furthered her love of poignant story-telling and sparkling lyricisms. She is drawn to Lennon Stella's powerful vocal delivery, and the unrivalled Frank Sinatra's spellbinding artistry.

Both Manpreet's debut single “something” and following single “no one” have received airplay on BBC Introducing Berkshire, in addition to something being featured on Spotify's editorial playlist, "Easy", which has over 401,700 listeners. Manpreet has also garnered the praise of artists such as Lennon Stella and Nina Nesbitt on Instagram, and received a mention from pop songstress Audrey Mika below one of Audrey's popular Billie Eilish covers on YouTube.
