THEY. and Wale Join Forces on "Losing Focus", Ahead of "The Amanda Tape"
With “The Amanda Tape” fast approaching, LA-based duo THEY. give us one more glimpse of what is to come in the stunning new offering, “Losing Focus”, a stellar collaboration with DC rap legend, Wale.
Blending the top-notch production of Dante Jones, soulful vocals of Drew Love, and distinct delivery of Wale, the cut serves to build more hype for the release of “The Amanda Tape”, set for release October 23rd via Avant Garden/Island Records. Speaking on the release, Dante Jones states:
I wrote this one during a bit of a rough patch. It was weird time when it felt like a lot of things were getting off track, relationships, business, just everything. I was spending a lot of time in the studio alone drinking and just kinda let it all pour out.
This upcoming project is meant to encompass the entirety of a relationship, the good and the bad.
This track has a bit of that mid 90’s bounce to it, I wanted to have the feel of a TLC record and there’s only a few people that really know how to ride that type of track. We linked with Wale in LA and played him the record. He was like “ Give me 30 minutes”. We left the room and came back in 30 and it was done, he killed it.
THEY. have been in rare form over the past couple of months, wowing with “Count Me In”, Tinashe collaboration “Play Fight”, and “All Mine”, each building anticipation around “The Amanda Tape”. Having toured the globe with 6LACK and PartyNextDoor as well as worked with artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Jessie Reyez, Vic Mensa, Jeremih,Ty Dolla $ign and more, THEY. are set to step up this year.
