Sophia Black Releases New Single "Real Shit" Featuring Kyle
LA-native alt-pop singer/songwriter Sophia Black is back to release her first new single in 3 years - the gloriously smooth "Real S#!t" via Kin Paku/independently popular./Amigo Records. Inspired by meme culture, the track was co-produced by Kool Kojack and Shea Taylor, and showcases Sophia's hypnotic vocals over a fun rhythm that is perfectly accented by the hip hop feature by Kyle. This is the first single off Sophia's new EP to be released later this spring.
"In life, real shitty things happen and you can't control it... but in the end everything works out and life's cool," Sophia explains. "I just wanted to make a song that's lyrically inspired by memes and 'Ironic' by Alanis Morissette with a positive twist."
Sophia Black was born and raised in Southern California with a diverse musical family, steeped in every musical style imaginable from classic pop, soul, dance, and 80s & 90s hip-hop. Her background is evident when listening to her music which provides the perfect platform to showcase her powerful yet honey-soaked vocals. The Japanese/Native American, Los Angeleno is fluent in French, Japanese, and English and breaks down musical and cultural borders, creating a style that is both timeless, fresh, and heroically her own. Her debut EP release in 2015 was a five-song collection that wove together a fascinating narrative through a patchwork of heavenly vocals, vivid lyrics, and lush soundscapes that marry hazy synths and unorthodox R&B beats.
