Over 20 years ago at the Source Awards ceremony in New York City, Andre 3000 of Outkast made a statement that has reverberated across the hip-hop landscape ever since. Specifically, he proclaimed that “The South got somethin’ to say!” and no more than five years later, one can say that the south had a padlock on the Rap and RnB music industry, whether it be byway of Houston, Memphis, New Orleans or the de facto capital of the south, Atlanta.
