Perth Based Artist Reija Lee Drops Her New Single "Something True"
As Australia continues to undergo a renaissance in its homegrown pop music, one name has stood the test of time and is set to be everywhere this year as Reija Lee makes her return to the airwaves with her latest single, ‘Something True’.
Dripping in nostalgic influences but keeping one foot firmly planted in the future, ‘Something True’ is the sequel to the self-love anthem Love Nobody, for “when you've worked on yourself, sorted your shit out, and you're finally ready to be with someone,” says Reija Lee.
Lee said of how the track came together, “I was on tour with Shockone, sitting backstage at our Melbourne show with a good friend of mine Ian Strange (an amazing artist in his own right), and we were talking about life and ambitions... and I said flippantly "you know, I've got money, I've got things, I'm comfortable." And his eyes went all wide and said "You HAVE to turn that into a song." The next day I went into the studio with Styalz and wrote Something True.”
‘Something True’ marks the start of an exciting year for Reija Lee, who has just been announced as the main support for Luke Million’s national tour. Off the back of 2018 which saw her take out the Unearthed spot to play at Listen Out Perth, the “queen of EDM” is set to double down in 2019 with a whole lot more performing and shows, and of course, new music.
Reija Lee said, “I'm so excited to be releasing more solo music - when you're constantly writing and performing and doing everything else that comes with being an independent artist, you forget that no one hears all the demos that you know, no one sees what’s happening behind the scenes... so I'm really happy to finally be able to share the next chapter in the Reija Lee story. There is so much more to come!”
