Oakland Hip-Hop Duo FR333 Share Their DOPE New Track "Peaches"
Oakland hip-hop duo, FR333, will set you free with sound. The pair combines head nodding rhythms with gritty incantations, conjuring an intoxicatingly vibrant sonic healing force they dub, Goddess Trap.
Producer, XOA and rapper, MADlines originally met back in 2015. Since then, they’ve been featured in Eastbay Express and AFROPUNK. They’ve recorded at the legendary Fantasy Studios and opened for OSHUN. And with the release of their sophomore EP, “TH3 BODY”, the group promises to delve deeper into unexpected soundscapes.
“TH3 BODY” is a follow up to their first project, TH3 MIND. Listeners may be familiar with XOA’s synth-heavy, atmospheric instrumentals and MADlines’ sultry wordplay, but what this EP does differently is solidify the duo’s unique sound, all while addressing some tough content.
In the song, “Peaches”, FR333 pays homage to the pop star’s underground famous track “Fuck the Pain Away.” MADlines reimagines the original, proclaiming “you can’t tie me/I defy gravity/seen a whole lot/still I move lightly.” In fact, each song grapples with challenging topics, from how black women’s bodies carry trauma to healing from abuse in order to channel one’s intuition. And with features from Oakland heavy hitters like Ryan Nicole and Honey Gold Jasmine, “TH3 BODY” is the perfect soundtrack to reclaiming one’s divinity, especially in a world hell bent on breaking us down.
