Mayer Hawthorne Drops His New RnB/Soul Infused Breakup Song "The Great Divide"
Grammy-nominated recording artist Mayer Hawthorne has officially released his new RnB/soul-infused breakup track "The Great Divide" via his own newly launched label, Big Bucks.
"Back on my strange. I've never felt more inspired to create," shares Hawthorne. "Music is magic."
"The Great Divide" follows Hawthorne's latest single "The Game," which the critically-acclaimed musician dropped at the end of June, marking his first taste of solo music in three years.
Mayer Hawthorne is a modern-day renaissance man. The prolific Los Angeles-based writer has penned every word of his extensive catalog, including four full-length albums over the past 10 years. His songwriting pulls from his life and observations; his heartache and joy. Sometimes it's groovy, other times he's vulnerable and sincere, but it's always timeless and soulful. Hawthorne, who began his career by making rap beats and DJing near his Michigan hometown at the height of Detroit hip-hop, also handles the lion's share of production for his music and is a skilled musician, who's played nearly every instrument on his acclaimed albums.
In addition to his solo music, Hawthorne is also half of the critically-acclaimed funk duo Tuxedo with Grammy-nominated hip-hop producer Jake One. Tuxedo recently released their third studio album, Tuxedo III, in July and wrapped a successful cross-country North American tour in its support with sold-out shows in Los Angeles and San Diego.
A true music aficionado and vinyl junkie, Mayer Hawthorne, whose music has racked up over 100 million combined plays on YouTube and Spotify, is not only influenced by the greats of the past in his original music, but continues to showcase his extensive musical knowledge through his DJ sets as well as his own Hawthorne Radio, a monthly playlist series available on his website and SoundCloud, where he has over 5 million followers.
