London Based Artist Kings Elliot Shares Her New Pop-Noir Ballad "Dancing Alone"
The rising talent of Kings Elliot returns with her touching new single “Dancing Alone” – a heartfelt pop-noir ballad about navigating a relationship through the choppy waters of mental health issues.
Having racked up over a million streams from all over the world on debut single ‘I’m Getting Tired Of Me’, the Swiss-born London-based newcomer has already captured the hearts of scores of new listeners with her devastatingly human and heart-on-sleeve approach to music.
Describing herself as a "sick puppy”, Kings has spent her life battling borderline personality disorder and anxiety. The pansexual identifying artist uses her music as a means to explore her most personal thoughts and fears – and ‘Dancing Alone’ again comes directly from the heart.
“Talked you through the steps, how to pirouette, when I lose control of myself,” she sings over piano and an intimate cinematic soundscape, leading her partner into a close waltz through her most challenging times, unafraid to stumble, before concluding “falling together is better than dancing alone”.
"Holding together any kind of relationship when you struggle with your mental health is immensely challenging – for you and the person involved,” says Kings of the track. “'Dancing Alone' is me preparing someone for how hard it’s going to be, and walking them through every step of ‘the dance’ they will have to learn in order to get through the darkest days.”
It’s another bold statement from an artist not only unafraid to bare her soul, but who sees it as an essential responsibility to let others know that they are not alone. Her beautiful but affirming debut single ‘I’m Getting Tired Of Me’ may have been born from her own anxiety and self-destructive tendencies, but came with a message of hope. After being very open on Instagram and talking to people about their struggles, her honesty went as far to see her film a music video that documented one of her panic attacks, but only to let fans know that while what they’re feeling is real, there is always a path to better times. Panic attacks always pass.
Proving that strength and vulnerability can go hand in hand, Kings Elliot is here to let millions know that they are not alone. Listen to “Dancing Alone” below, and connect with Kings Elliot on her social media.
