Korean-American Pop Singer-Songwriter Tiffany Young Steps Into the Spotlight With New Single "Over My Skin"
Pop singer, Tiffany Young, has released her powerful new song, “Over My Skin” which trended worldwide with the hashtag #overmyskin upon release. Pop culture bible, Rolling Stone, called the song a “sensual, bold, English-language song” in their feature story about Tiffany.
In her conversation with Rolling Stone’s Jae Hae-Kim about her dreams for this next phase of her career as a solo artist she said, “It was never a secret that I wanted to pursue a career here in America. My girls knew and our fans knew. I started out in Girls' Generation when I was 17, and now I'm 28…..I was thinking more about how can I bring what I am as a K-Pop artist, but also bring in the elements of pop that I love and grew up with – that Pharrell, Britney, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland era. That music is still amazing to this day. I just wanted to bring both worlds together.”
Co-written by Tiffany, “Over My Skin” is filled with self awareness and embracing one’s femininity, featuring the classic pop vibe with a hint of ‘90s R&B elements that Tiffany talked about. Tiffany explains, “It is me all the way.”
The song is semi auto-biographical and about a young woman transitioning to the next phase of her life, letting herself be more emotionally naked for the first time.
"I feel liberated, like I'm finally stepping into my own superpowers!" says Tiffany. "It’s about doing my life my way and not for anyone else. When you first hear the song, you can say, oh that is about sex, but listen again, it is really deeper than that. It is about being a woman in this world at this time. My favorite line is 'do nasty things and you don't judge me' because I think every woman feels that way and there is nothing wrong with it," she proudly states.
Tiffany partnered with East-West entertainment company, Transparent Arts, headed by the Far East Movement (the first Asian American group to hit #1 on the Billboard Charts) and Jon Yip of the Grammy award winning production team The Stereotypes (Two Grammys in 2018 for Bruno Mars, “That’s What I Like”) to present her new sound and vision to the world.
Tiffany enjoys a large fandom generated from years of being in Girls' Generation, that has now translated into over 6 million followers on Instagram.
The video for “Over My Skin” is planned for release on July 13, 2018 followed by more songs from this gifted artist whose voice has been compared to her idols, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
