Oklahoma-based experimental pop-rock band Lilac Kings has unleashed their new single “A Touch To Lose” out via indie label Revival Recordings. Sitting somewhere between alternative, pop, and progressive rock, the band takes as much influence from Young The Giant as they do Dance Gavin Dance. “A Touch To Lose” meshes crystal clear vocals with a constantly shifting and evolving instrumental, guiding the listener on a journey through an ambient dreamscape held together by catchy guitars and clever lyrics. The track is exemplary of the band's nuanced approach to songwriting, seamlessly incorporating experimental and polyrhythmic moments without losing any of its focus. On writing “A Touch To Lose” the band stated:
“The song is about being involved in something or with someone that feels wrong, but wanting it desperately enough to deal with the lack of true connection. Knowing that in the end, the experience will leave you feeling even more lonely and sad. We aimed to create a song that vocally and musically encompassed these feelings. The music composition itself was actually inspired partially by John Mayer and was written when our songwriter Dylan McBride was on a massive John Mayer kick.”
